Arrieta salaries are 30M, 25M and 20M. Can opt out after two. Deal could go to 5 years and be worth 125M to 135M. #phillies

In 2015, Jake Arrieta won the Cy Young award. He led the league in starts, shutouts, walks per nine innings, complete games and walks and hits per innings pitched. Mad decent.
In 2017, he was fine or whatever. He went 14-10 with a 3.53 ERA and after being basically unhittable in 2015, he was like, an alright third starter for the Chicago Cubs. It made sense that it took him until the end of Spring Training to be signed by a team that has money to spend but ultimately sucks.
Name 3 hitters in the Phillies batting order. Exactly. The Phillies signed Carlos Santana from the Cleveland Indians which is the equivalent of fixing a sinking ship by signing Carlos Santana from the Cleveland Indians.
I believe it’s all downhill for Arrieta and he’ll never be anywhere near as good as he was in 2015. In fact, I wouldn’t be shocked if he completely losses it this season and his ERA hits 5 and the Phillies throw him on the disabled list just to get his washed up ass out of the rotation.
Buuuut he’ll still embarrass the New York Mets every time they play. That’s how this works. A former Ace enters the National League East, they’re garbage until they play the Mets and then all of a sudden they’ve returned to Cy Young form.
Thoughts and Prayers to Yoenis Cespedes.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you think Jake Arreita will make an actual difference for the Philadelphia Phillies this season. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
