I have been working on Deadseriousness for what feels like all my life. All I’ve wanted to do was share my perspective of the world with you beautiful people. Most internet sports writing is boring as hell or lazy, copy and pasted nonsense all repeating the same topics and same opinions on everything.

In 2019, Sports Illustrated sold to Maven and essentially every tenured writer making 6-figures was promptly fired and all of the content was instead made by random college kids for free—I mean “college credit”. Every time I refresh my Twitter timeline, there is another story about Vox firing SB Nation editors.

For so many years, building Deadseriousness has been a one-man mission to do the impossible: make money writing about sports. And every year it gets more and more difficult to do so.

Twitter and Instagram are quickly becoming unusable. Figuring out how to actually get people to see my writing is exponentially harder day after day as these venture capitalists purchase every recognizable brand and fire all of the competency on their payroll in order to maximize profits and feel better about giving themselves massive bonuses they don’t really deserve.

All I wanted to do was write some smart(ish), somewhat clever articles in an internet age where media companies either trick ‘interns’ into writing garbage for free or have computers generating their content.

So I’m starting Let’s Get This Dread—a daily newsletter sent directly to your email inbox every day so I can send out my words for people who want new, interesting, unique content instead of the same boring nonsense that’s being pumped out by these zombie brands.

You’ll get recaps of the biggest stories from the previous night, instant reactions on any and all random massive trades, signings or firing that may happen at any point in the day and just my full, unhinged takes sent straight to you.

So leave your name and email address below and sign up for Let’s Get This Dread and help me turn this one-man operation into an unstoppable juggernaut.
