Free-agent guard Ron Baker has agreed to a deal with the Washington Wizards, league sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Wizards are waiving Okaro White.
Baker, who signed a two-year, $8.9 million deal with the New York Knicks before the 2017 season, was released on Thursday to make room for rookie Allonzo Trier, who had been on a two-way contract.
“This was the hardest one I’ve ever been a part of,” Knicks coach David Fizdale said last week. “Cutting Ron Baker was really rough. I talked to him today. He was fantastic. He’s Ron Baker. He’s a pro. He totally understood where we were.
Allonzo Trier STOLE Ron Baker’s roster spot and after 29 teams fought and clawed to sign him, Washington emerged as the victors so we can pretty much just pencil them into the NBA Finals.
Name a backcourt better than Bradley Beal and Ron Baker….I’ll wait. John Wall is the automatic 6th man of the year. We saw how great Trevor Ariza looked when he played with an MVP point guard in Houston. Now he’s back playing with another one: Ron.
Toronto added Kawhi. Boston added Gordon Hayward. Philadelphia added Jimmy Butler and I bet they’re all kicking themselves for letting Ron Baker slip through the cracks. Suckers.
So which Western Conference team has the best chance to beat the Washington Wizards now?
Well let’s do the math on this real quick: how many Western Conference teams have a Ron Baker on the roster? OH, zero? So then yea, I will be in the District of Colombia for the Wizards NBA Championship parade on a float with Ron sitting on my shoulders. I’ll see you all there.
Thanks for reading. Tweet to @TheLesterLee if you think the Ron Baker Wizards are going to walk through the East easily. Also, go ahead and throw Deadseriousness a Like on Facebook so that I can keep the lights on around here at HQ.
