2018 was a weird year in music in that our big stars didn’t really drop anything new. Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber took the year off. Lady Gaga is a movie star now. Beyonce made that old washed up married couple album.
But there were still plenty of bangers to go around. Disclaimer: I mostly listen to music that makes me cry or make me want to lift a car over my head and throw it through a jewelry store window.
Here is the Deadseriousness Top 50 Songs of 2018:
50. Ariana Grande – Thank U, Next
This is my attempt at being objective. I do not enjoy ‘thanks for the memories’ wack ass break up songs. But you people do so here you go. No. 50. Yay.
49. Tyler The Creator – Okra
Tyler, The Creator didn’t do much this year but he blessed us with some 2015-style Tyler bars.
48. Natalie Prass -Short Court Style
I loved when Short Court Style came out. Then I heard it at Target. Then I hear it at Kohls. Then I heard it in my sleep. This song ran retail stores for the last 6 months.
47. Boy Genius – Me & My Dog
Boy Genius is three girls playing guitars. I’m opting into this contract every single time.
46. Migos – Stir Fry
Peek behind the curtain here: This was originally supposed to be Walk It Talk It but you will scroll down and find out, just like how I found out, that there is way too much Drake on this list already.
So Stir Fry is actually a better song.
45. YG ft. 2 Chainz, Big Sean & Nicki Minaj – Big Bank
What I love about this song is that it’s like every rapper walked up to the mic and was like ‘watch me say the corniest line ever’ and you know what? They all succeeded.
44. Lil Baby & Gunna – Drip Too Hard
There’s going to be a lot of Drake on this list. Gunna will be on this list just as much so they’ll just cancel each other out.
43. Lil Wayne – Uproar
If you live in New York, then you know that this is the only song that Hot 97 is allowed to play, apparently. Swizz Beatz and Lil Wayne 1000% made this song in 2007
42. Rico Nasty – Guap (LaLaLa)
This song came out maybe two weeks ago and it’s the only song I want to hear. Fuck your Christmas music, my guy. This is the ultimate home invasion song. That breaking and entering BANGER.
41. Mariah Carey ft. Gunna – Stay Long Love You
While youe were sleeping, Mariah Carey came back and dropped one of the best albums of the year. I’d like to imagine she has never and will never meet Gunna but together, absolute heat.
