Alvin Kamara just had one of the greatest running back performances on Christmas Day. In a New Orleans Saints 52-33 domination over the Minnesota Vikings, Kamara ran for 6 touchdowns SIX tuddies on Minnesota’s cranium.

Kamara now has 16 rushing touchdowns and 21 total trips to the endzone this season which is a New Orleans franchise record. 1,688 total yards from scrimmage. 83 receptions. The man is borderline unstoppable which is important to note in the context of the offseason contract he was given.
This September, New Orleans gave Alvin Kamara a 5-year $75 million extension making him the 2nd highest-paid running back behind Christian McCaffrey. Kamara has obviously made the most of this deal and New Orleans looks like geniuses for giving him all that cash.
Which brings me to the New York Giants and their star running back, Saquon Barkley, who is up for a big extension after this season ends. Barkley is very good at football. Like, very very good. He walked into the league and was instantly a Top 10 back.
There are plenty of Giants fans that believe Saquon deserves the cash that Kamara has received. The Giants offense is 1000% different with Barkley in the background drawing opposing defense’s attention.
He was the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2018. That same year he finished 2nd in rushing yards and 3rd in total touchdowns. He was one of the best players in the entire sport.
That being said, let’s never put Saquon Barkley and Alvin Kamara in the same sentence ever again. Since 2018, Alvin Kamara has played in 44 regular-season games. Barkley has played 31. Maybe don’t throw a bunch of cash at a dude who has monogrammed crutches.
Barkley was drafted No. 2 in 2018. Lamar Jackson was drafted No. 32. Jackson has more career rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. He’s a quarterback. He has better running numbers than the Giants starting running back.
Again, Saquon is really good. And I do hope he gets all the cash in the world. And I hope those checks are signed by another organization because the Giants would be fools to back the Brinks truck up to his physical therapy spot.
