Last night, the New York Giants gutted the Washington Redskins and wore their flesh as victory robes. Yes, I’m aware it was their first win of the season. Yes, I’m aware it was against a Redskins team that historically cannot defeat the Giants, but after last night, it’s impossible to say objectively that New York isn’t the best football team on planet Earth.
Eli Manning is the best quarterback in the game. Last night, he was an absolute on the field. The fearless leader. In previous years, you could knock his lack of ball security. Consistently leading the NFL in turnovers. Well, that’s not the case anymore. He has thrown a grand total of zero interceptions through 3 games which is the longest streak he’s had in his career.
Eli’s getting better which is dangerous because he just so happens to have a once-in-a-generation superstar as wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr. Eli also happens to have the best trio of running backs he’s had since that last time he held the Lombardi Trophy in 2011.
Rashad Jennings, Andre Williams, and Shane Vereen are a PROBLEM for opposing defenses. Their running game was lethal last night. All about moving the chains and getting the Giants the best possible field position. No one loves first downs more than Odell Beckham. He might dislocate his shoulder celebrating so hard.
But that defense. My god. No one is safe. Week 1: They embarrassed Tony Romo. Week 2: Made Matt Ryan cry. Last night: They devoured the Redskins. That defensive line had so much mental real estate inside of Kirk Cousin’s tiny, untalented brain, it was scary. Hard to watch the bloodbath all over the field.
The New York Giants won’t be losing another game this year, probably. I guess I’ll buy my Super Bowl ticket today so I can be there when the confetti drops all over the world champion (New York Giants). They are the best team in the NFL, and no one can tell me otherwise.
