Jimmy Garoppolo Has Thrown 272 Passes in His NFL Career And He Is Now The Highest Paid Player in NFL HISTORY

The San Francisco 49ers have locked down their franchise quarterback as Jimmy Garoppolo has officially signed a new five-year contract worth a reported $137.5 million, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network first reported the new deal. Garafolo said it’s the “biggest deal in NFL history on a average-per-year basis.”

Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reported the deal includes a total of $74 million in guaranteed money.

So, this is dumb, right? Last season, Jimmy Garoppolo started 5 games for the San Francisco 49ers and yes, he won all 5 game of those games including one game against the AFC Champion, Jacksonville Jaguars but should that grant him the biggest contract ever?

He threw 7 touchdown passes and 5 interceptions. That’s not that impressive. Those are literally Blake Bortles numbers. As much shit as I can talk about how silly this contract is, Garoppolo made it very clear that he can make every throw and that he can lead men in a huddle. That’s a huge deal.

Having said that, this is how you ruin a team. Ideally, you want a cheap good quarterback that you can build an amazing team around. See the Philadelphia Eagles with two discounted quarterbacks who can win you games while all of the team’s money is dispersed equally through the other positions.

When your quarterback dominates the salary cap, you put your team in a position where they can’t afford to surround him with stars and playmakers. Look at the Baltimore Ravens who gave Joe Flacco the bag and now have zero flexibility to improve the team around him. The entire cap is stuck in the black hole that is Joe Flacco’s ridiculous contract.

But you can’t win NFL games if you don’t have a quarterback. The Cleveland Browns will never be close to good if they keep throwing out these guys who look like Law and Order extras.

I can’t not quickly point out that the 49ers could’ve paid pennies to Colin Kaepernick and built a team and offense around him especially considering that Kyle Shannahan is this offensive mastermind that put together Matt Ryan’s MVP season a year ago. But nope, build a bank in Garoppolo’s backyard and kick Kaepernick out of the league.

White people are crazy.
