Actor Jeffrey Tambor is leaving his critically acclaimed Amazon show “Transparent” amid allegations that he sexually harassed an actress between scenes, according to a report Sunday.
The Emmy-winning actor said he’s choosing not to return next season due to the “politicized atmosphere” on set, according to Deadline.com.
“Playing Maura Pfefferman on ’ Transparent ’ has been one of the greatest privileges and creative experiences of my life,” Tambor, 73, told the entertainment news site.
“What has become clear over the past weeks, however, is that this is no longer the job I signed up for four years ago,” he said. “Given the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don’t see how I can return to ‘Transparent.”
You really have to respect Jeffrey Tambor here for sticking to his guns and leaving Transparent because of the new politicized atmosphere. It’s a witch hunt in Hollywood for older men who are just trying to act and perform. It’s a damn shame, really.
Let’s take a look at this atmosphere he’s leaving behind:
“Transparent” actress Trace Lysette has accused actor Jeffrey Tambor of sexually harassing her on the set of the Amazon series.
Lysette’s allegations mark the second time the star, who plays Maura Pfefferman on the critically acclaimed dramedy, has been accused of sexual misconduct. Earlier this month, Tambor’s former assistant Van Barnes accused the actor of sexual harassment in a private Facebook post, according to Deadline. Tambor vehemently denied those allegations, which Amazon said it would investigate.
Lysette, who plays yoga instructor/dancer Shea on the series, told the Hollywood Reporter that Tambor said he wanted “to attack” her “sexually” ahead of shooting a memorable Season 2 scene. She also made allegations of inappropriate physical contact.
“He came in close, put his bare feet on top of mine so I could not move, leaned his body against me, and began quick, discreet thrust back and forth against my body,” Lysette told the magazine. “I felt his penis on my hip through his thin pajamas.”
Again, it’s tough out here for Jeffrey Tambor who is just trying to rub his old man dick against a co-stars hip and now he’s in trouble for no reason. WITCH HUNT. Enough with the politics, people. Ugh, Tambor is just trying to work in this crazy town and now his co-stars and assistant are blowing up his spot.
I also want to point out that both women involved in this story are trans and people often sexualize and fetishize these women as if they are a walking porn category and the feeling isn’t mutual so if you want to bang a trans woman just ya know, buy her dinner or something, ya know.
