The 2019 NBA Finals were a rollercoaster ride mostly consisting of Golden State Warriors players all breaking every bone in their body only to fall short of earning a historic three-peat.
INSTEAD, the Toronto Raptors became the World Champions in six games.
With every massive event, there are specific winners and losers. Here are the 5 biggest winners and losers of the 2019 NBA Finals:
1. Kawhi Leonard
I mean, duh. Here’s an example of the type of slander this man was receiving all because he hurt his leg and wanted to leave an organization that practically called him a pussy because he wouldn’t play on his injured leg.
2. Kyle Lowry
The butt of every single joke has been Kyle Lowry. Up until this point, Playoff Kyle Lowry was the worst basketball player in the history of history.
But then Lowry started this game with 15 points in the first quarter on 4-4 3-point shooting. He finished with 26 points in a title-clinching game. [John Wall voice] I ain’t neva eva, seen you play like that. You gettin buckets buckets’.
Oh and by the way, Kyle Lowry jokes aren’t over. He’s one of the worst ‘All-Stars’ in NBA history. Nah, he starts the 2019-2020 season with a missed jumper or a turnover and the jokes are flying.
3. Klay Thompson
Klay Thompson’s Game 6 tearing his ACL, walking back to the locker room and then triumphantly running back to take his free throws will go down as one of the most legendary moments in NBA history. Klay Thompson was immortalized.
This is going to be FIRE in the Golden State Warriors 30 For 30.
4. Jeremy Lin
And now onto the Losers…
1. Steph Curry
The stage was set for Steph Curry to finally put the Warriors on his back and take home his first Finals MVP. Remember when we all sad Steph revolutionized the NBA and he’s the best shooter of all time? That great shooter went 3-for-11 behind the arc in an elimination game.
Oh brother, this guy STINKS.
2. LeBron James
Really? LeBron James dragged two awful Cleveland teams to the Finals and get choked out by Kevin Durant in 2017 and 2018 in 5 quick games. Kawhi walks into Oracle Arena and suddenly Kevin Durant’s achilles ruptures and Klay’s knee evaporates. LeBron must be SICK.
3. Anthony Davis
The Toronto Raptors just established a new precedent where you trade for an All-Star in their final year of their contract knowing damn well they’ll only be there for a year BUT, you win a championship.
So congrats to AD. Hope you enjoy living in Detroit. Anthony Davis: Orlando’s No. 1 bachelor.
4. DeMarcus Cousins
Wow, the 2017-18 New Orleans Pelicans All-Star front court of Boogie and AD both took MASSIVE L’s in the 2019 NBA Finals.
DeMarcus Cousins made such a big deal about teams not wanting to sign him coming off an achilles injury. He was going to show the world they made a mistake so he took a minimum deal in Golden State to win a ring and prove he was a winner.
Man, DeMarcus Cousins was garbage.
