The Las Vegas Raiders are 6-9 this season. Another year going in with wildly unrealistic expectations has led to the franchise finally making a decision at quarterback that they probably should’ve made a half-decade ago.
Raiders are benching Derek Carr and turning to Jarrett Stidham as their new starting QB.
Carr has thrown a league-leading 14 interceptions— including three Saturday night during a 13-10 loss to the Steelers.

The Raiders stink every season and Derek Carr coasts by because he seems like a genuinely nice guy and his teammates and coaches or more publicly weird. Carr was able to skate by the last few seasons thanks to Jon Gruden being a sociopathic klan leader and now, Carr is being defended because Josh McDaniels is a terrible head coach and although those are all facts, David Carr’s brother isn’t lighting the world on fire out there.
In 2018, Derek Carr was roasted for crying after getting sacked too hard. He also cried in a press conference earlier this season. Personally, I’d prefer my starting quarterback to have more control over his emotions than a sleepy 3rd grader but whatever.
But we can dunk on Carr another day. Let’s talk about Jarrett Stidham who is getting the opportunity to start the final two games of the 2022 NFL season and potentially change the direction of his career.
So can Jarrett Stidham actually succeed?
Absolutely not, yo. I can’t even sit here and pretend as if there is any possibility of Stidham doing anything noteworthy in the next two weeks. Especially when the Raiders have San Francisco and Kansas City left on the calendar. He might not even make it to the final Chiefs game once the 49ers defense jumps him.
Jarrett Stidham had to transfer from Baylor to Auburn because he couldn’t beat Seth Russell for the starting QB job. If you’re wondering to yourself ‘who is Seth Russell’ then yea, that’s kind of my point. Stidham simply isn’t talented enough to play well or else, ya know, he’d be playing.
You’d think his previous relationship with Josh McDaniels would be positive but this season has reminded the world that offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and head coach Josh McDaniels are two completely different animals. One is a perennial Super Bowl contender and the other is 3 games below .500 and starting Jarrett fucking Stidham this weekend.
Shout out to Davante Adams who came to Las Vegas specifically to play with his ol’ college pal, Derek Carr, who will 1000% be on a different roster next season leaving Adams stuck in Vegas with Jarrett Stidham and that one guy you went to high school with who went to Vegas with his friends for a bachelor party and never went back home because his vices won.
Jarrett Stidham is going to have the most boring mundane games these next two weeks and the Raiders will be quarterback-less for at least one more season before they go full tank. This is what you deserve when you hire Jon Gruden and Josh McDaniels back-to-back. You get hell. And Jarrett Stidham.
