4 Teams That Should Trade For Trae Young

trae young

Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks are beefing. There was a report in The Athletic earlier this month detailing a major rift between Trae and head coach Nate McMillion and their massive ‘miscommunication’ that resulted in Trae straight-up no-call no-showing an NBA game.

So let’s do what we do here at Deadseriousness: trade star players to new random teams with no real consideration of the salary cap.

Here are 4 teams that should trade for Trae Young:

1. Dallas Mavericks

The story has come full circle. The 2018 NBA Draft Day trade of Luka Doncic for Trae Young—one of the worst trades in NBA history regardless of that one time the Hawks snuck into the Eastern Conference Finals somehow. Time to bring Trae back home to the original team that drafted him and team him up with Luka.

Luka just recorded a historic 60-point, 20-rebound triple-double this week to place his name firmly on top of the MVP hierarchy but the Mavericks barely won that game. the Luka Mavs are at their best when they have a secondary playmaker and ball handler to give their thicc star a break from running every single offensive possession.

2. Minnesota Timberwolves

The T-Wolves are currently 3 games below .500 and are currently sitting outside of the play-in game. Sure, Karl-Anthony Towns is out for a while nursing a calf injury but this franchise went ALL IN on Rudy Gobert in the offseason sending 4 first-round draft picks to Utah. That’s not a move you make in hopes of crawling into the 10th seed.

Time to double down and trade even more assets to save this pathetic season they’re having. Karl-Anthony Towns made it quite clear last postseason that he’s not good enough or mature enough to be the best player on your team. The Wolves needed him out there to beat the Grizzlies and KAT was committing the most annoying ticky-tack fouls that deaded all Minnesota momentum.

Plus, Anthony Edwards has already aired out his frustrations of having to play with two big ass 7-footers clogging the lane and essentially eliminating Edwards’s ability to get to the rim because the paint is so clogged now.

Get KAT the fuuuuuuuck out of here. Respectfully.

3. Miami Heat

If you are reading this article and you are under the impression that the Miami Heat can win the title as this team is currently constructed then please reach out to the people in your life who care about you. You are loved and deserve love. For everyone else who is living in this reality where the Heat are mid as hell, it’s time for Miami to go get the guy.

Miami has been looking to acquire a star for years. Jimmy Butler plays one game a week. Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro aren’t good enough to win a championship. But Bam and Trae Young together would be a pick n roll master class. They’d dominate teams with simple dribble handoffs all game long.

Just imagine all the good things that Tyler Herro provides but like, multiply it by 30 and add consistent production on a nightly basis. Also Kyle Lowry is ultra washed. The 26th-ranked offense in the NBA could use an All-NBA scoring guard.

4. Orlando Magic

The Magic are one of my favorite teams ever because of their organizational strategy of exclusively acquiring players 6-foot-8 or taller. Their starting shooting guard—Franz Wagner—is 6-foot-10. Bol Bol is the size of a high rise apartment complex and plays around the perimeter. They are the ultimate size queens. You know what they’re missing? The tiniest point guard in the NBA.

This team needs a floor general and I don’t know if Trae Young is mature or accomplished enough to be that for them but I know for a fact that it’s not Markelle Fultz.

Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner have a greater chance of reaching their ceiling if they had a true point guard running the offense. Now that I’m thinking about it. Trae Young will most likely just play keep away from the young guys and hoard every offensive possession for himself.

Either way, it would still be hilarious to see Trae Young and Mo Bamba standing side-by-side.
