We Bullied Andrew Wiggins Into Becoming a Hall a Famer

Prior to the 2021-2022 NBA season, Andrew Wiggins refused to get the coronavirus vaccine which was required in San Francisco for large indoor events meaning Wiggins was going to miss Golden State Warriors home games for no reason outside of probably receiving a shitload of fake information mixed in with a fear of needles.

Outside of Ted Cruz and the prostitute he convinced to run for office, everyone and their mothers mocked and bullied Andrew Wiggins until he inevitably got the vaccine.

Let’s fast forward to see how that decision worked out for Drew and the Warriors:

He is without a doubt the 2nd best player competing in the NBA Finals behind Steph Curry. He would easily be the best player on the Boston Celtics right now with Jayson Tatum turning the ball over at a historic clip. Seriously, the Boston Celtics have no idea how to dribble/ How did this team get to the NBA Finals?

If Steph wasn’t having nuclear performances, Wiggins would walk away with the Finals MVP which no one on Earth could’ve predicted when he was so mediocre in Minnesota that the Timberwolves had to attach a first round pick to move him for D’Angelo Russell.

Andrew Wiggins has been mocked pretty much his entire career. He was the No. 1 overall draft pick for the Cleveland Cavaliers only for LeBron James to ‘come home’ and immediately demand Wiggins get sent to Minnesota for Kevin Love.

Wiggins proved he could score 20+ points a night whenever he felt like it. He was also incredibly inefficient and vanished from games. Here’s Doris Burke just shitting on him for two straight minutes in the middle of an ESPN broadcast:

Wiggins makes the same amount of money as Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid—the players who were first and second in MVP voting this season—and prior to this season, he refused to really ever try.

He was the face of underachieving. It’s a shame none of us felt any sympathy for him.

How many of us are great at our jobs and don’t really care or try and just do it for the paycheck? If anything, Wiggins is the most relatable player in the NBA. As long as the direct deposits keep coming in, who cares if I don’t sweep up before I leave, or in Wiggins’s case, who cares if I don’t play defense?

He scored his points when he wanted to score them and then would stand in the corner and watch his team play 4-on-5. He and Tobias Harris were the kings of stealing money and doing nothing of value on a basketball court.

I truly believe the internet dunking on him and making him get a Covid vaccine transformed him into an All-Star starter and now a true difference-maker in the NBA Finals.

Bullying works.

I don’t want to hear about Steph Curry making Wiggins’s job easier and that’s suddenly why he’s thriving. Nah. Wiggins’s pre-vaccine would’ve looked like how Otto Porter currently looks out there. It was his lack of effort, not opportunity.

The entire world making fun of him is what changed his game and no one can tell me otherwise. I have never seen Wiggins play defense as aggressively as he is against these Celtics. Truly did not believe he was capable of locking guys down like he is currently is.

Bullying. Works.

Can you imagine how these Finals would look if we figured out a way to bully Kyrie Irving into getting vaccinated? Brooklyn Nets with Durant, Kyrie and James Harden, would have packed the Warriors up in 4 games. We missed out on a hilarious Draymond Green/Blake Griffin fist fight because we didn’t bully Kyrie hard enough.

Let’s all praise Andrew Wiggins and hope this is the player he is for the remainder of his career. This is what the No. 1 overall pick should look like.
