Kyrie Irving Wants To Be a Martyr So Badly

kyrie irving

Kyrie Irving is a complicated individual. Or at least, he’d like for people to believe that about him. His newest endeavor has been taking his anti-vax stance so far that the Brooklyn Nets decided this week that Kyrie will not be part of the team until he takes the Covid-19 vaccine.

Here’s what Nets GM Sean Marks had to say about the decision:

“Given the evolving nature of the situation and after thorough evaluation, we have decided Kyrie Irving will not play or practice with the team until he is eligible to be a full participant. Kyrie has made a personal choice, and we respect his individual right to choose. Currently the choice restricts his ability to be a full-time member of the team, and we will not permit any member of our team to participate with part-time availability.”

Due to New York’s policy that requires everyone to prove their vaccination status before entering any building, Kyrie Irving would not be allowed to play home games this season so the Nets organization decided that they will proceed without him instead of allowing him to be a part-time player. The correct decision.

You certainly can’t force people to get vaccinated but these mandates are the best chance to inconvenience those who are too afraid or too stubborn to simply take medicine that will end this pandemic entirely.

Sure, ‘personal choice’ and blah blah but those personal choices negatively affect the people around you. Kyrie is a young man in shape but if he hot coughs on the subway, who knows how many people on that car could have their lives altered by his refusal to get a vaccine.

Being suspicious of the government and more specifically, the American health care system, is totally normal. We should all be questioning the motives of a government that has shown time and time again that they care more about making the wealthy 1% of the population richer and richer at the costs of everyone else’s quality of life.

If you understand that that’s the government’s main motive then you understand how much CEOs desperately need the working class to ya know, stay alive and run their companies for them while they vacation and get hotel staff fired.

So the idea that this vaccine is poisoning us or has long-term health effects or whatever the fear is just doesn’t make sense. If you believe this country only cares about money then yea, everyone being at work is how you maintain that money. This isn’t some big conspiracy. Don’t overthink it.

I don’t believe Kyrie is a dumb man. He’s a ‘free thinker’ which is a cool way of saying that he’s a contrarian actively going against a mandate because he isn’t a sheep like the rest of us. He sees through the bullshit. You can all zig, I’ll be over here zagging my ass off.

And he’s willing to toss his career away in order to hold onto this “freedom” or power he refuses to relinquish.

Two years ago, Kyrie was ready to sit out of the bubble after the murder of George Floyd by the Minneapolis police. He would’ve been seen as a hero for standing up for what’s right. No one worth listening to would bat an eye. Sure, the Jason Whitlocks and Clay Travis’s of the world would shit on him but they hate black people so of course.

But now it appears he got a taste of what that martyrdom feels like and is using the vaccine as his chance to ‘stand up for what’s right’ again except this time, he has the full support of Jason Whitlock and Clay Travis.

Kyrie wants to be Kaepernick so badly but look at the people applauding him. Look what he’s fighting for. Cool, the Trumps love you. You did it, brother. Sick.

We all want to feel special. We all want to feel as if we’d die for our sacred beliefs if they were ever tested and so publically at that. And Kyrie found an opening to be a martyr and jumped at the opportunity no matter how absolutely stupid the cause.

Get the fucking medicine, everyone. You’re not special. You’re not seeing through the government’s evil plans. You’re not exercising your freedom. You’re just getting people sick because you’re a loser.

Also, I get the feeling that James Harden is completely okay with Kyrie not taking 15-20 shots a night from him. That man is smiling ear-to-ear today.
