Welcome to “Why Your Team Is Winning The Super Bowl: where we recap the previous season, before diving into your team’s coaching edge, the prestige of your QB room, the new weapons they purchased, the main character storyline that’ll flood the podcast-class and the wild card factor that’ll propel them to the Super Bowl.
Today, the 2026 New York Jets.
How did 2025 go?
3-14, tied to the basement radiator along with 3 other teams for the worst record in the NFL. 15th straight season without a playoff berth, longest active drought.
Year one of the Mougey-Glenn era—an on-field calamity.
-203 point differential, worst in the league. Last in passing offense, 31st in scoring defense and sacks, last in turnovers—including a season without a single interception—the first since the invention of the forward pass. A team coached by a former top-25 corner in his day couldn’t deceive a single opposing QB.
Both GM Darren Moughy and coach Aaron Glenn kept their jobs—the rebuild just beginning. First, they need one more season’s worth of bodies in the wreckage.
Coaching edge
Glenn hired Frank Reich to be the “head coach of the offense”. Yes, Reich last ran Carolina’s O in 2023, finished dead last in points. But why you bringing up old shit?
Aaron Glenn is a prideful man, he has to be. The former corner led a defense with no interceptions. Expect the 2026 New York Jets will be the most ambitious defense in NFL history. Every DB coached up to believe they have a shot at the INT. Rewards for pick-sixes.
Seriously, this could be Glenn’s final coaching opportunity. i promise you, the Jets finish Top 10 in interceptions.
QB Prestige
When we flatten all context to demonstrate a QB’s ability to improve as their career progresses, Geno Smith’s name blurts, jumps convos. Geno went to Seattle, brought the ’22 squad to the playoffs—overdelivering, leading the NFL in completion percentage. Top-10 MVP finish.
35-year-old Geno Smith, older, wiser, handing off to Breece Hall, yo. Breece Hall’s played 16 games 3 straight seasons. One of the most reliable running backs in the NFL, led the NFL in rushing for first downs, put the ball in his gut, he’s moving the chains.
Not a great 2025 for ya boy. Raiders finished 3-14. Geno threw the most interceptions (17), 30th in QB rating and 27th out of 28 qualifiers in QBR.
But honestly, with the way Steve Ballmer and these boys are moving, Tom Brady and Geno Smith agreed the former would pay the latter to lose on purpose, gifting Vegas that No. 1 pick. Look for Geno’s initials scattered throughout various tax filings, searchable in bankruptcy rulings in the greater Nevada area.

Game-changing addition: Minkah Fitzpatrick
Fitzpatrick started 14 games last season—82 tackles, 6 passes defensed, 2 fumble recoveries, an interception and his first career sack. Fitzpatrick, taking snaps from basically everywhere, finished as PFF’s 7th-best safety among 91 qualifiers.
A captain.
A future Hall of Famer.
Let’s go.
Main character storyline: Geno Smith’s return to New York
In 2013, drafted in the second round by the New York Jets. 13 years later, the prodigal son returns. Rebuilt, made whole, restoring the vibes, carrying the club to the bowl. Mike Greenberg and Rex Ryan dominating ESPN airwaves, but these two men haven’t smiled about the Jets in almost 15 years, so many of their celebrations are antiquated, recreating Baauer’s “Harlem Shake” videos in the seaport studio.
X-factor: WR Garrett Wilson
1,000+ yards each of his first 3 seasons, last season ending early, frustrated, knee pain, team sucked, work sucks. Justin Fields, his final opportunity to prove NFL starting quarterback—self-immolation, protest, had to be, no other explanation for how unprepared and weird out there.
Geno Smith, for the most part, is a quarterback. Justin Fields is some new position the NFL’s next great offensive innovator creates. Fields wasn’t wrong. Just too early.
Breece Hall holds the rushing O up, Geno can get the ball to Garrett. This is the season Wilson makes those Top 5 receivers conversations for serious,
Why they might not win the Super Bowl
Aaron Glenn thinks he’s close, it’s getting warmer. That’s the hottest seat, paperwork already filed, scheduled to fax the NFL offices, synced with the final game clock, sending at 00:00.
The team’s designed to acquire a quarterback in the 2027 NFL Draft. Geno Smith is just moody Tyrod Taylor. Jets are airing 2014 reruns, paying higher prices than ever for it, us little piggies will pay. How is Kash Patel’s FBI shutting down illegal streaming sites but can’t find that news anchor’s mom in a neighborhood full of ring cameras?
Spiraling out, loud, public, possible.
A sports media led by the New York Post and midday talk radio, dinosaurs devouring middling local ball clubs to maintain incoming car dealership, concert venue and blinds/carpeting installers-cash flow keeping the lights on—a veteran QB whose career didn’t quite go the way he wanted and now, he’s mask off, barking at fans. Julius Randle thumbs down football.
