Stephen Amell, the Most Famous Actor on Earth, Shares His Important SAG-AFTRA Strike Thoughts

Look, we ALL know when something big happens in Hollywood, we rush to American Ninja Warrior contestant, Stephen Amell, so we can wrap our heads around what’s going on in the world.

Writers and actors across Hollywood are on strike in an attempt to lessen the gap between their wages and the money these studios are making from their work. With the rise of streaming, studios are hiding streaming numbers and manipulating contracts to avoid paying the writers and actors what they deserve.

There is now a complete work stoppage. No new shows. No new movies. And no actors are allowed to promote their work during the strike.

But if you’re wondering how you’re supposed to feel about all this, here is Supergirl guest star, Stephen Amell—at Galaxycon in North Carolina promoting the second season of his show Heels during a halt in promotion—telling us the truth about this strike:

“I support my union, I do, and I stand with them, but I do not support striking, I don’t. I think it is a reductive negotiating tactic, and I find the entire thing incredibly frustrating. And I think the thinking as it pertains to shows like the show that I’m on [Heels], that premiered last night, I think it’s myopic.”

Thank you to the man who starred in the biggest show on TV, Arrow. For 8 years, we all rushed home and gathered with our friends and family to catch the brand-new episode on the CW network. Arrow—a show about DC hero Green Arrow but they couldn’t actually say Green Arrow because Warner Bros didn’t let them for fear it would confuse audiences in case they decided to add Green Arrow to the DC movies.

They never added Green Arrow to the DC movies.

But I understand why so many are pissed at him for calling the strike myopic. When Stephen Amell speaks, we all have to listen. There is no voice in the entertainment industry more valuable than the guy who was in two episodes of New Girl.

Whether we agree or disagree with his comment, we all have to stop what we’re doing and talk about superstar Stephen Amell.
