4 Players the Knicks Should Trade For at the Deadline

The New York Knicks are currently 26-23 and sitting at the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference. There is a clear separation between the top teams like Milwaukee, Boston and Brooklyn, and the middling teams like New York, Miami and Indiana. If the Knicks want to establish themselves as a real threat, they need to make a move and acquire some help.

Here are 4 players the Knicks should trade for at the trade deadline:

1. Bojan Bogdanovic

I have bad news for a very specific sect of Knicks fans: Obi Toppin isn’t ready to contribute to a playoff team yet and he should be getting coach’s DNPs every night. He’s being asked to play around the perimeter where he should be hanging around the rim and using his ridiculous vertical leap to his advantage. He’s also too small to defend the paint so he’s a liability against bigger forwards.

The Knicks currently rank 26th in bench scoring. Bojan is averaging 15 points a night and just dropped 33 points on 11-for-15 shooting against the Milwaukee Bucks earlier this month. Bogdanovic and Immanuel Quickley coming off the bench could be a dangerous two-man offense while Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle can finally sit and actually rest.

2. Jae Crowder

Everything I said about Bojan Bogdanovic is true of Jae Crowder minus the scoring prowess but on a team with RJ Barrett, Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson taking almost all of the shots, perhaps it’s best for the Knicks to sign a guy to solely focus on playing defense and standing open on the 3-point line for wide-open kick outs.

He also hasn’t played a minute this season so he’s completely fresh coming to a team where Tom Thibodeau is playing guys 48 minutes a night. I also think Jae Crowder is an asshole and the Knicks need more edge and shit-talking. It’s their one advantage over more talented teams. The Knicks should go full asshole mode like the Memphis Grizzlies.

3. Mo Bamba

Mitchell Robinson will be out for a minute nursing a thumb injury and his backup, Isaiah Hartenstein, is incapable of finishing a fucking layup so the Knicks need a real big man to fill in. There are new reports that the Orlando Magic put Mo Bamba on the trade block with Jonathan Isaac finally back from his missionary work in Chile.

Bamba is 24 years old and from Harlem. He can protect the rim as well as step out and hit 3’s if the team needs spacing. His age fits the Knicks current timeline and if he plays well, he can have a long future on the Knicks.

4. Doug McDermott

IM COMING HOME, IM COMING HOME….TELL THE WORLD THAT IM COMING HOME

Former Knicks legend, Doug McDermott, is stuck in NBA purgatory playing meaningless basketball games for the lame-duck San Antonio Spurs who have just become the vanity project of a retiring old man who spends more time sampling wines than winning.

McDermott is shooting 42% from 3. The Knicks need more reliable outside shooting so teams don’t handcuff them with a zone defense. The Spurs can take back Evan Fournier since Gregg Popovich loves international players so much.
