Last week, Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna casually caught a DUI charge and then proceeded to just return to work as if he wasn’t blacked out behind the wheel of a car. Here’s how the fans embraced his return to the lineup.

I don’t usually write about people drinking and driving because people make mistakes and as long as no one is hurt, you can just only hope the 24 hours in jail makes someone realize they should chill with that behavior. It’s a little weird when it’s a professional athlete making millions of dollars who should be more than capable of affording an uber or car service to pick him up.
What makes this Ozuna situation so different is knowing he is only 18 months removed from strangling his wife resulting in 200 hours of community service, mandatory anger management and a cute little 20-game suspension.
Now, it’s unfair of us to all expect every professional athlete to be Derek Jeter. We demand perfection while we ourselves are full of imperfections. It’s juvenile and odd. I like my athletes to have some edge.
THAT BEING SAID, being a millionaire athlete is a privilege. You don’t get to beat the shit out of your spouse, drink and drive every night and then just bat lead-off the next day. It’s fucking insane that Ozuna played over the weekend following his second arrest in as many years.
Marcell Ozuna is a sociopath who should not be getting at-bats in Major League Baseball games right now. He has shown no growth from his previous mistake where he got lucky his wife dropped charges and he only had to volunteer at the local shelter or whatever and sit in a group anger management class for a day.
I dare you to strangle your partner then catch a DUI and go back to work on Monday. Your boss would literally be shocked you even came in. You’d have to be a maniac to not understand that your job would not be there waiting for you.
Ozuna is clearly battling demons right now and it’s absurd that he’s currently battling for playoff position as if he’s not an absolute TERROR when he leaves the clubhouse at night. The man is behaving like the main character of a Grand Theft Auto game the second he clocks out of work.
Marcell Ozuna does not deserve to play baseball until he demonstrates some level of self-awareness. He got his second chance and he drank it. It’s time for my man to apply to Target and start cashiering.
