Joe Judge Should Already Win Coach of the Year After 4 Players Retire During Training Camp

joe judge

There has been a lot of news coming from New York Giants training camp and the NFL media is looking at Joe Judge as another failed Bill Belichick protegee following the early chaos during routine practices.

Two offensive linemen—Zach Fulton and Joe Looney, as well as linebacker, Todd Davis and fat wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin—have all retired and quit football entirely after just one week of practicing under Joe Judge’s tyranny.

The big story of the week involved a fight breaking out in which Daniel Jones ended up on the bottom of the pile. You never want your franchise quarterback getting stomped out by backup defensive ends.

Joe Judge punished the players by forcing them to run sprints and do pushups like a high school basketball team that got caught drinking at a house party over the weekend.

Players started retiring left and right after a week of Joe Judge making them exercise like, harder than they would have preferred to.

It’s easy to look at Judge as a try-hard asshole who is mismanaging his personnel. Judge spent a chunk of his coaching career under Nick Saban in Alabama and one can say that Judge is treating these grown ass adult men like teenagers that require discipline and humiliation.

But here’s what wide receiver, Sterling Shepard, had to say about his coach’s ways:

“That’s kind of the standard that we’ve set here in this building and as a team, and I think guys have bought in and know what to expect whenever you step on the field and when you’re playing under a guy like coach Judge,” Shepard said. “If you don’t like it, then you’re welcome to leave. But that’s the way that we do things around here and everybody is standing by that, and I’m all for it.”

So if everyone is on board and down to run sprints and shit then Joe Judge has more than earned his respect from his players and perhaps these 4 players should have never been in the building.

I cannot stress enough had terrible of a general manager Dave Gettleman is.

From giving Odell Beckham a huge contract extension only to instantly trade and destroy the team’s salary cap flexibility to drafting a running back with the no. 2 overall pick instead of selecting Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson while Eli Manning was struggling to grip a football—Gettleman should not be running a football organization.

It makes zero sense to bring in Kelvin Benjamin to play tight end, a position he never played before, after signing Kyle Rudolph and knowing Evan Engram is your starter. Of course Benjamin quit the team. He was set up to fail.

Joe Judge has established a culture of hard work and blah blah footballisms but it’s impossible for him to successfully implement his system if Dave Gettleman is bringing in assholes who don’t want to put the work in.

If the Giants make the playoffs despite Dave Gettleman setting up booby traps for him left and right then he should be the unanimous coach of the year.

Fire Gettleman, yesterday.
