They watched Sam Darnold leave to win the Super Bowl, in front of Bad Bunny, while JJ McCarthy was statistically one of the worst quarterbacks in NFL history, Carson Wentz shattered his elbow and Max Brosmer accidentally became important at work.
Minnesota finished 9-8, missed the playoffs but maintained the coaching staff.

Now, Kyler Murray parachuting in to compete for the QB1 job, from everything I read, losing the fight, to JJ McCarthy, a fighter with no hands.
No reason to believe this team has a real plan to compete in the hotbed of the cold NFC North.
So why not just go out there a buy some lotto tickets?
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, 30-year-old safety-turned-linebacker Jamal Adams is joining the Minnesota Vikings confusion.
Adams’s entire career led to this team.
The 6th overall pick by the New York Jets in 2017 out of LSU, 2 All-Star teams, 2 All-Pros, his paycheck signer helping Trump launder money in the UK. Contract talks imploding, New York sent Adams to Seattle for 2 first-round picks and a 3rd rounder.
Adams made another All-Pro team in his first Seattle season—earning a 4-year, $72m extension in 2021—injuries eroding Adams’s career the moment the direct deposit hit. Crazy how that always magically seems to happen. The second I get more than $5 in my account, I’m done with this sports writing thing, so I get it.
Adams played in only 22 of Seattle’s 50 games before they cut him in 2023.
Last season, Jamal rediscovered purpose—reuniting with head coach Pete Caroll in Vegas and converting full-time to linebacker—Adams mad decent in 2025. 45 tackles, 5 TFL, a forced fumble and a sack, the 33rd-highest grade out of 88 qualified linebackers according to PFF.
And most significantly, he played all 17 games for the first team since 2018.
If Jamal Adams is just a healthy, reliable rotation player, maybe even someone Brian Flores trusts in high-leverage 3rd downs, Minnesota stole a former All-Pro when no one was looking.
Or, like Kyler Murray, Jamal Adams is washed and injured and weird.
Either way, the Vikings will be a fun last place team to watch.
