I Am Officially a Georgetown Basketball Fan

Growing up, the Big East was the center of the college basketball universe. And as a Knicks fan, Georgetown was a magical place that produced the great Patrick Ewing as well as other NBA greats like Alonzo Mourning, Dikembe Mutombo and Allen Iverson.

After 15 years of bouncing around the NBA as an assistant coach who could never get hired as a head coach—which is a whole other conversation for another day—Patrick Ewing FINALLY got a head coaching job at his alma matta, Georgetown in 2017.

6 years later and Georgetown cannot win basketball games. After a 73-95 loss to 25th-ranked Marquette. It was Georgetown’s 26th consecutive Big East loss. They are now 5-12 on the season and dead last in the division as the only team without a single Big East victory.

Georgetown was a pillar of black excellence transforming young black men into their best selves. Now, they can’t even get kids on this roster to graduate. Since Ewing’s arrival, only 2 players have graduated and 17 players have transferred to different schools or quit altogether.

From this point forward, Georgetown has my full attention. I have to support the best Knicks player in my life before he inevitably gets fired because, ya know, you can’t lose every single basketball game and continue to be a basketball coach.

I’m also a messy bitch who lives for drama so I am locked in on the chaos. They can’t keep losing every Big East game, right? RIGHT??!

So it’s settled. From now on, Deadseriousness will be the home of Georgetown basketball updates. I am going Marie Kondo humbly smiling with my palm covering my mouth as the Hoyas get dragged by Villanova because I just love mess.
