Friday night, Yankees escaped Gilead for the border, arriving in Toronto for a weekend series against a Blue Jays team loading up another heroic sprint to the World Series.
Good guys lost.

Luis Garcia barehands the ground ball to rocket another missile back at third base. George Lombard Jr rushing to cover the base and find the whiffle ball Garcia launched, knees Vladdy Jr in the skull, ball hits the wall, Vladdy, seeing stars, grudingly takes home plate.

Alejandro Kirk hits a ball to the gap to score another run and then homered in the 8th to secure the W for Toronto.
The Blue Jays are now only 1 game out of the final Wild Card spot, bibs tied around their necks, fork and knife in hand, licking their lips, knowing the Yankees dogshit offense is beatable this weekend.

Without Aaron Judge, the Yankees are the dregs of the league, bottomfeeders, ranked 30th in almost every statistical category, an opposing pitcher absolutely looooves to see the Yankees batting order coming.
Each game down to the last out, every pitch matters. Every defensive player matters. They make one oopsie and the other team wins.
Gerrit Cole pitched 6 innings with 5 Ks and only 1 earned run. And he ended the night with an L on the record, daring to allow Toronto that one earned run.
Aaron Judge told reporters he’s playing this year. Giancarlo Stanton is back running the bases, slower than ever. He could send a ball to the centerfield wall and still get tagged out shuffling to first. Cody Bellinger returns soon.
For now, the Yankees must continue hitting 1 solo homer a game, then white-knuckling the remainder of the night, hoping every ground ball just goes to George Lombard Jr.
