After a contract buyout from the Dallas Mavericks 4 time NBA champion Klay Thompson is fleeing Texas, home of his famous ex, to sign a 2-year, $11.5m deal with the Miami Heat.
Klay’s 2025 on top of the world, on top of the stallion, never not smiling, hand-in-hand with a high-five machine. Ending tragically, publicly, Thompson’s approval rating among Call Her Daddy listeners plummeted.

Last season, Klay shot 38% from 3 on 7.6 attempts a game for a career-low 11.7 points a game. Injuries and father time nailing Klay’s sneakers to the court, athleticism escaping him back in Golden State, but he’s an overqualified double-team deterrent. At some point in a Miami Heat game, Giannis will get doubled and Klay will score the easiest three points of his career.
Despite a torn ACL, then Achilles, Klay’s clocked in—playing 69 games or more in each of the last 4 seasons— even in Dallas, Kyrie’s knee popped and winning became a lower priority than making sure the AC didn’t go below 68 degrees. Cooper gets chilly.
According to Ida Winderman, Klay will most likely start for the Heat but coach Erik Spoelstra expects Pelle Larsson to be on the floor in crunch time.
The Miami Heat now have options. That’s all a coach like Spoelstra needs to trick off a Finals run.
Plus, Klay gets to experience the Miami single life Milwaukee took from Damian Lillard. Klay is now surrounded by City Girls, and my boy cannot wait to be held at gunpoint on a yacht.
