Congratulations To Jayson Tatum For The Tax Write Off, I Mean Funding “Financial Literacy”

Boston Celtics superstar, Jayson Tatum, is donating $1 million to help poor people spend the few dollars they have on stocks and bonds or whatever. Ok.

At the All-Star break, the Boston Celtics are 43-12 with the best record in the NBA. They’ve been the best team all season long and led by their All-Star forward, Jayson Tatum who is averaging 27.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 4.8 assists with a 55% eFG% and playing some of the best defense in the league.

The Boston Celtics are in the midst of a historic season and this week, the team’s majority owner, Wyc Grousbeck, joined a local radio broadcast to announce the Celtics have been filmed all season long and there’s a Last Dance-type docuseries on this team currently in production.

“In terms of the Celtics, I have positive news there. Nothing to officially report yet but we are in production on a multi-part, absolutely top-quality fantastic documentary series along the lines, hopefully, [of] ‘The Last Dance. And we are deep into that. We signed contracts. It’s being filmed, archives are being gone through and it’s in process. They’re following the team this whole year. It’s behind the scenes, so we’ll see what happens. But win or lose, it will be out.”
Wow, I cannot wait to watch the multi-episode doc about a Celtics team where it feels like everyone is on the same page and there is zero drama or any conflict with the squad at all. Suuuuper compelling television.

Somehow in the midst of this magical season which has apparently been recorded for a documentary series, Jayson Tatum has taken time out of his busy schedule to donate $1 million to help his hometown people in St. Louis learn financial literacy.

There goes my hero.

Such a noble cause by Jayson Tatum—who says he grew up with his mother living paycheck to paycheck without a savings account and now he wants to help poor people in similar situations learn about, uh, savings accounts even though they don’t have enough money to save anything.

A beautiful story if you are a fan of falling for very obvious PR campaigns.

When you read more of the story, Sofi Financial Services is donating $1 million to the Jayson Tatum Foundation which means zero of the money is coming from Tatum’s pocket. Tatum has made around $120 million in his career, not including sponsorship. He wants to help people in his community struggling with poverty but only wants to help them with a corporation’s washed money.

So people struggling to make ends meet in St. Louis have to find time between the 2 to 3 jobs they need to pay rent to sign up with this SoFi problem and hope they get their name randomly pulled out of a hat to qualify for some bullshit ‘grant’ to help them pay for a mortgage and those that don’t get their names called get access to “financial advisory services and tools”.

If you want to help poor people, you should give them money. Sounds crazy, I know.

No poor person has ever become wealthy after reading a financial literacy pamphlet and suddenly turning their like, $30 of disposable income into a diversified stock portfolio.

JAYSON TATUM’S MOM GOT RICH BECAUSE HER SON IS 6-FOOT-8 AND CAN SHOOT A  BASKETBALL. Not because she signed up for SoFi’s mortgage lottery that required her to sign up to a corny newsletter that tells her to work smarter, not harder or whatever the fuck.

Wealth redistribution is the solution to poverty. Neighborhoods aren’t ravished with poverty because no one has the Robinhood app on their phones.

But shout out to Jayson Tatum changing the world by accepting $1 million from SoFI and being able to use his foundation to receive tax credits and make even more money than the people he’s pretending to help.

I cannot wait to watch zero seconds of this Celtics ‘Last Dance’ documentary.
