2022 NFL Season Award Predictions

nfl awards

The NFL season starts this week and I run a sports website therefore I need to continue to push out 2022 preview content so I can afford to pay rent. People click football articles. Who am I to rob people of what they want?

Here are the 2022 NFL season award winners, probably:

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Kayvon Thibodeaux

As a Giants fan, it’s going to be a looooong year of me attempting to spell Kayvon Thibodeaux’s name correctly. Still, it’s going to be necessary considering he is going to spend every game on top of opposing quarterbacks.

He’ll be playing alongside Azeez Ojulari—a 2nd-year pass rusher who led the team in sacks and QB pressures last season. When the Giants were at their peak last decade, they were led by their pass rush. It’s allllllll coming back to me now.

Defensive Player of the Year: Khalil Mack

Khalil Mack has a fresh start in Los Angeles with the Chargers. Moving from the brutal winters of Chicago to Los Angeles where the worst thing that can happen to you is forgetting your jacket when you go to the store and getting a little chilly in the Dairy section.

I see a lot of people predicting Joey Bosa will win DPOY and there is no part of me that can be convinced Bosa is better than this guy:

Khalil in 4.

Offensive Player of the Year: Ja’Marr Chase

When the season ends, we will be declaring Ja’Marr Chase the best wide receiver in the NFL. It’ll help that the previous best receiver is missing half the season because he has HGH flowing through his veins.

Joe Burrow will only get better a deciphering what opposing defenses are trying to do against him opening up new windows for Chase to get the ball and prove he is the best in the world at what he does.

Offensive Rookie of the Year: who cares?

With no rookie QB expected to make any real impact, this isn’t an award that interests me at all. Should I say Kenny Pickett when Mitch Trubisky inevitably loses the starting job because he has atrocious decision-making skills? I suppose he and I have that in common along with the fact that neither one of us will be starting quarterbacks in December.

Asshole of the Year: Aaron Rodgers

aaron rodgers

Aaron Rodgers has won back-to-back MVP awards. He’s also been the biggest asshole in the league for the last two years as well. No doubt in my mind he’s going for the three-peat this season as he’s already started off the year with a stupid appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast talking about all the casual drugs he uses which is cool or whatever but it’s interesting how quiet this drug addict has been his whole career while players lost their careers for testing positive for weed.

LVP: Carson Wentz

The Least Valuable Player award will be handed to Washington Commanders loser, Carson Wentz. I’ve written about how much he sucks in the past so I won’t go crazy here. I’ll simply just repeat: Wentz sucks.

MVP: Kirk Cousins Patrick Mahomes

I wanted to be cute and say someone like Justin Herbert or Joe Burrow but like, Mahomes is the best quarterback on the planet and the Chiefs will most likely have the best record—as they typically do—so let’s not overthink this shit.

Also, would not be shocked if Tom Brady walked away with another MVP award because why not? Every time I think he’s too old, he ends up having the best season of his career.

Honestly, the only thing I want this season is to see Daniel Jones like, not lead the league in fumbles or trip over his own feet on national TV. Being a Giants fan means hoping you don’t lose by 30 to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football.
