What If Jamal Adams Is Just an Asshole?

jamal adams

Jamal Adams burned every single bridge possible in order to leave the New York Jets organization and it was tough to blame him. The Jets were run by Adam Gase who was once Peyton Manning’s offensive coordinator many years ago and was somehow treated like untouchable royalty because he called plays for one of the greatest ever.

The Jets were are a shitshow so you could look back at the way Adams handled his trade request and give him some benefit of the doubt even though he was a weirdo on Twitter and was highkey overrated.

He’s a safety that sucks in pass coverage. Yes, he was traded to Seattle and proceeded to lead the Seahawks in sacks (9.5) last season which was the most sacks by a defensive back. Even more impressive that Adams set this new record after missing 4 games with a groin injury and playing through a torn labrum and broken fingers.

But that’s not really a talent that your safety needs to have. PFF graded his pass coverage a 44.5 out of 100 and he tied for 12th in receptions allowed. He’s a liability in the passing game.

When he was traded to Seattle, he posted that he wanted to be a Seahawk for life which is cute because he also once said that he wanted to be a Jet for life.

He is now holding out of training camp until Seattle gives him a new contract as if we didn’t all just watch the previous Seahawks star safety, Earl Thomas, try to get a new contract only to be completely ignored by the team and forced to play and ultimately breaking his leg.

Oh, and never being paid by Seattle.

I don’t ever want to seem as if I am taking the side of the team in these contract negotiations but when a team makes it very clear that they do not pay guys until their contracts expire then it’s tough to feel bad for the guy who knew that was the situation going into it and still thinks they’re special enough to make them change the entire way they do business and especially for a guy who isn’t even in the frame when his receiver is catching a pass in the endzone.

Jamal Adams should and most likely will get paid. He changes the way Seattle plays defense and the amount of pressure they can apply to opposing quarterbacks. He was All-Pro last season and deserves a raise from his rookie deal.

He also seems like an unhappy asshole who will find something else to complain about after he gets paid. Cannot wait to see AJ Green and DeAndre Hopkins break his ankles at the line of scrimmage this year.

This is all Adam Gase’s fault. Everything is.
