Starring Margot Robbie, I Tonya is a raw and provocative portrayal of the life of figure skater Tonya Harding. In 1991, Harding became the very first American female to finish a triple axel at a figure skating competition. The movie takes a comedy-drama angle, exploring Tonya’s dysfunctional life. The movie shows the toxic relationships with her mother and ex-husband, and the scandal that eventually led to the ruin of her career.

9. Battle Of The Sexes (2017)

 

Battle Of The Sexes is a biographical sports movie, directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. The film is based on a tennis match between Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King that took place in 1973. In 1970 Jack Kramer organized a tournament, the prize for women was far less than the prize for men, regardless of equal ticket sales. When Kramer points to the inferiority of female tennis games, Gladys and Billie Jean attempt to take matters into their own hands.

D’amato’s team used to be on top, but now they are struggling with constant losses and aging players. At home, D’amato (played by Al Pacino) is trying to come to terms with his failing marriage.
