In 2017—Robby Anderson’s 2nd season in the NFL—he recorded 63 receptions for 941 yards and 7 touchdowns. It was a breakout year and the beginning of a great career for the young receiver.
Andddd then the Jets drafted Sam Darnold in 2018 thus effectively ending any success Robby Anderson would see in New York. His numbers either dropped or remained stagnant in a way that seemed odd for a player who appeared ready to ascend into greatness.
But there was hope.
In 2020, Anderson signed with the Carolina Panthers. Not the first New Yorker to seek a fresh start and move to the Carolinas. The fresh start worked. Anderson caught 95 balls for 1,096 yards. Teddy Bridgewater isn’t one of the best QBs in the NFL but he was consistent and knew that it behooved him to get the ball to Anderson.
Anddddd then the Jets traded Sam Darnold to the Panthers thus effectively ending any success Robby Anderson would see in Carolina.
Their tethered failures all came to a head this past Sunday when the Panthers lost 6-24 to the New England Patriots. Sam Darnold played like he had money on the Patriots moneyline.
Darnold went 16-for-33 (48%) with only 172 passing yards and 3 interceptions. Oh, his quarterback rating was 26.3. He wasn’t very good and hasn’t been good at all.
The #Jets traded Sam Darnold to the #Panthers in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the ‘21 NFL Draft, and second & fourth rounders in ‘22.
Darnold is 1-5 in his las six starts.
His numbers during that stretch: 109 of 199 (54%), 1,098 yards, 4 TDs, 10 INTs, QB rating 56.48

Darnold is easily one of the worst first round quarterbacks in NFL history. He has no idea how to read a defense pre-snap. He is in instant panic mode from the moment he snaps the ball. Doesn’t matter if there’s an actual pass rush or not, Darnold is freaking out and attempting to escape the pocket before he sidearms a ball to a receiver who can’t see where the ball is coming or is being led directly into a safety’s helmet.
Unfortunately, it appears Robby Anderson has had enough…

Yike.
Perhaps, I’m biased in favor of Robby Anderson after he was pulled over by a cop and told the cop that he was going to fuck his wife and “nut in her eye”. This is how every police officer should be addressed going forward.
Imagine being Robby Anderson getting out of New York, signing a new contract, and having a career year only for Sam Darnold to come back and almost end ur career pic.twitter.com/qIYX8rbl7Z

I’m also biased in favor of Robby Anderson because SAM DARNOLD IS KILLING RECEIVERS.
Pray for the Panthers receiving corp.
