Never Let Luke Walton Coach Again

luke walton

During the Golden State Warriors dynasty, Steve Kerr took time off to recover from a back injury. Luke Walton became the interim coach and the Warriors did Warrior shit.

Somehow Luke Walton got credit for the Warriors success despite them already being one of the greatest teams ever with the two greatest shooters ever and them all being one quick text away from Kerr. I couldn’t make my high school varsity team and I could’ve led those Warriors to a winning record. “Draymond, uh, go do that thing you always do”

He then took that unearned success with him to Los Angeles where he would go 98-148 in 3 seasons. One of those years, he had LeBron on the roster. They had a losing season.

He then took that failure and was rewarded with the head coaching job of the Sacramento Kings. He went 68-93. That nightmare ends now.

This is one of the most open seasons in recent NBA history. It truly feels like anyone can win the championship this year. The Kings have been rebuilding for years and finally have a decent-ish roster that should at least be competing for the 8th seed. With De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton running the backcourt and Harrison Barnes having one of the best seasons of his career, the Kings look like garbage.

Marvin Bagley refused to go into a game one night. Tristan Thompson—who apparently plays on the Sacramento Kings—pretty much said the team doesn’t need Walton. When you have a great head coach, the players don’t tend to say they don’t need that great head coach.

I am alllll for faking it until you make it. Lie on your resumes. Lie during your interviews. Coast and do the least amount of work, Collect checks. But at some point, the jig is up and you either have to actually learn how to do your job or get out of the way. You can’t keep getting job opportunities because your father is one of the best 75 players in NBA history and because you won titles being the 12th man on Kobe Bryant’s teams.

Free De’Aaron Fox.
