Josh Donaldson has been an incredibly unlikeable player for years now. So when he calls Chicago White Sox shortstop, Tim Anderson, “Jackie”, it is safe to assume he’s not saying a friendly joke to someone he is not at all friends with.
Tim Anderson compared himself to Jackie Robinson in an 2019 interview explaining how he is treated unfairly for simply enjoying playing the game while also alluding to the lack of black players in Major League Baseball.
I vaguely remember that headline but apparently, Josh Donaldson was sitting on that for years and decided now was the time to randomly call him “Jackie”. Donaldson later said it was some ‘inside joke’ between the two players but here are the two players interacting earlier this season:
Donaldson and Anderson almost fought like, two weeks ago. He didn’t call him “Jackie” because they’re buddies sharing a laugh. No, he was being a sarcastic asshole attempting to make fun of Anderson. Again, if we just almost threw punches last time we were next to each other and you call me anything outside of my name, you are antagonizing me.
Here’s what Tim Anderson had to say about Donaldson’s weird ass comment:
We can also add more context between Donaldson and the White Sox. Last year, Donaldson and Lucas Giolito met in the parking lot after a game to fight. So not only did he almost fight Tim Anderson but he almost fought his teammate as well. There are no inside jokes between them.
Being a jerk is one thing. Being a jerk and then telling reporters that you were just being silly cracking jokes with your buddy makes you a loser. He’s also a loser for almost being 40 years old and asking his barber to give him that mohawk haircut every week. No doubt in my mind that Donaldson is wearing Ed Hardy t-shirts under his jersey.
The New York Yankees have the best record in baseball. We should all be celebrating their hot start but instead, we’re all debating whether or not Josh Donaldson is racist because he called one of the only black players in the league ‘Jackie Robinson’ just to get under his skin.
Praying Josh gets hit with a pitch every game for the remainder of his meaningless career.
