It’s Hard Out Here For a Rich White Billionaire

jim irsay

I currently have about $15 in my bank account right now and I’m rounding up to the nearest 15. But there I go bragging about my privilege again. A guy like Indianapolis Colts owner, Jim Irsay, would kill to trade lives with someone like me.

In a recent interview with HBO Sports, Jim Irsay spoke about his substance abuse issues that led to his 2014 DUI arrest and 6-game NFL suspension. He wanted to set the record straight on what happened that night and how he was targeted by the police.

Irsay explained that the arrest was wrong because he just had hip surgery and was in the car for 45 minutes so of course he couldn’t walk a straight line for a sobriety test. See, it wasn’t the drugs he had a problem with that night. He had a new hip and couldn’t walk. And maybe had some painkillers for his hip but that’s no reason to go to jail.

He would continue to explain why the arrest occurred:

“I am prejudiced against because I’m a rich, white billionaire. If I’m just the average guy down the block, they’re not pulling me in, of course not.”

“I don’t care what it sounds like. t’s the truth. … I could give a damn what people think how anything sounds or sounds like. The truth is the truth, and I know the truth.”

Round of applause to Mr. Irsay for his fearlessness. We allllll know that life is hell for rich, white billionaires and I’m glad someone is finally brave enough to come forward with the truth.

Police departments encourage their officers to ride around the wealthiest neighborhoods in order to rack up easy arrests in crime-filled areas. It is disgusting really. All they want to do is fill their quotas and rich white guys are always their victims.

Guys like Jim Irsay—who can afford to sit in the back seat popping all the pills they want while literally anyone else drives for them—can’t even drive while intoxicated without the pigs trying to bring down the rich white man.

People may not realize this but Jim Irsay has been a police target since day one. He was born into wealth. Being born rich and white is like having 5 stars in Grand Theft Auto. I’m sure Irsay can’t move through country clubs and exclusive restaurant backrooms without feeling discriminated against.

Shit, even I’m guilty of this bigotry. I don’t mind admitting the horrible thoughts I’ve had about rich white guys. I truly believe they are the scum of the Earth and directly responsible for all of our woes. I understand how prejudiced this sounds but society cannot improve until we have these serious conversations.

ALLLL Jim Irsay did was slur all of his words and have a laundry bag full of prescription pills and almost $30K in cash. As a poor black guy, I would easily get away with driving drunk as hell with drugs and drug money in a random dirty bag but because Irsay is a member of a persecuted class, he ended up behind bars for almost 12 whole hours. It’s a disgusting world we live in.

I’m just glad HBO Sports gave Irsay an opportunity to tell his story. It’s about time we finally hear from rich white men. We need their voices elevated.

Everyone go support your local big businesses.
