Is Odell Beckham Washed?

odell beckham

All eyes are on Odell Beckham this week. With the trade deadline passing on Tuesday, it made sense that his name was thrown into the conversation given his diminished role in the Browns offense.

Unfortunately, those trade rumors led to his dad going on Instagram to post videos of all the times Baker Mayfield missed his wide-open son while Baker’s girlfriend went on social media liking posts defending Baker and shitting on Odell.

That’s not the important part of this story. Your family should be riding for you during times of turmoil. This is a non-story that is growing life because these two players lead the league in commercials per hour. It’s gotten so blown out of proportion that the Browns excused Odell from practice today.

The 3-time Pro Bowl should be the main fixture of the Browns offense but he’s pretty much an afterthought out there. He’s played 6 games this season and has 17 receptions to show for it. 17 catches in 34 targets. He has one more target than former Giants teammate Evan Engram and one fewer target than Henry Ruggs who just murdered someone. Good company to be in but for a larger comparison, Tyreek Hill leads the NFL with 90.

So is Odell Beckham washed?

As you can see from the video his dad posted, Odell is getting open. I can’t blame injuries for his inability to separate from defenders when there’s plenty of footage of this man very very open while Baker Mayfield either throws the ball at his feet or gets sacked into the Earth’s crust.

Baker Mayfield ranks 25th in passing yards and 27th in QBR. Odell got traded to a team with a run-first offense and a quarterback who can barely see over his own offensive line. There is no reason to believe that Odell can no longer dominate the NFL. He’s simply in a situation that was always going to fail. I mean shit, who gets BETTER when put on a Browns jersey?

I have no idea if Odell is washed but I do know that we’re not going to get an answer to that question as long as he continues to have Baker Mayfield throwing footballs at the dirt behind him.
