Is Kelly Oubre Jr Lying About Being Hit By a Car?

kelly oubre jr

In his 9th NBA season, at the age of 27 and playing for his 5th NBA franchise, Kelly Oubre Jr. is finally making a real impact on a basketball court. After years of just being another random guy in the league, Oubre and the Sixers were a perfect match.

Until of course….the accident.

What happened to Kelly Oubre Jr?

On Saturday night, was riding his bike home when he was struck by a silver vehicle that fled the scene. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated for broken ribs. That car hit that shit out of him. Respectfully.

According to Woj, Oubre could be back with the Sixers in about 3 weeks which is huge for Philly because they desperately need his scoring. On Wednesday night, Philadelphia lost 107-117 to the first-place Boston Celtics. Only two players off Philly’s bench scored. You can’t win a championship without some sort of spark from the reserves.

But let’s stay focused on Kelly Oubre Jr because there’s more going on than a simple hit-and-run.

Where is the footage?

Philadelphia police say they cannot find any piece of video evidence that shows Kelly Oubre Jr. getting hit by a car.

Here’s what the local pig sergeant said about the investigation:

“The Police Department currently does not have any video or photographic evidence that depicts this collision. We continue to work in hopes of gathering evidence and we encourage anyone who has information to reach out to our crash investigation unit.”

Apparently it’s a pretty busy intersection where Oubre was struck but the local business owners with cameras outside of their establishments couldn’t find any evidence of the accident taking place.

Imagine if you worked at a CVS and a 6-foot-8 guy on a bike got ROCKED by a car outside of your store. You’d be able to see it on the surveillance cameras. Especially if they also happened to be famous. The footage would be played over and over again on the computer until your shift ended, with you all huddled around watching it on repeat.

But for some reason, no one could find any proof this happened and every business owner in view wanted to stay anonymous. Interesting.

Thankfully, TMZ lives inside all of our walls and they were able to find some evidence. Here’s Kelly Oubre’s own ring camera footage showing him coming home and telling someone he was hit by a car:

So what happened to Kelly Oubre Jr?

Oubre was struck by a car, walked home, told his wife what happened, and then she called an ambulance for him to be treated for his broken ribs. But the fact he rode or even walked home makes it even stranger that there’s no video evidence of him anywhere.

So whoever struck Kelly Oubre Jr is either a police officer or they have enough power in the city to get in the police’s ear to help maintain his anonymity. But if you live in Philly, this shouldn’t surprise you at all.

This is the same police department that dropped bombs on a neighborhood in 1985 during a standoff with a black liberation organization. They burned the entire neighborhood to the ground because black people wanted equality.

It’s not difficult for me to believe this same police force would go out of its way to protect someone against a black NBA player.

The police has been anti-NBA for a minute now. They beat the shit out of Jaxson Hayes and went as far as kneeling on him, ya know, like how they killed George Floyd. The city of Milwaukee had to award Sterling Brown a huge settlement after the local police beat the brakes off him.

Thankfully, Kelly Oubre Jr is only playing on a 1-year deal and can get the fuuuuuck out of Philadelphia once the season ends. Perhaps move to a city where hit-and-runs are against the law.
