Here’s the Contract Daniel Jones is Asking For

daniel jones contract

Entering the 2022 NFL season, no one expected Daniel Jones to be in a position to be making contract demands but fast forward a year and thanks to the help of a brand new coaching staff and front office, DJ has found himself with real leverage.

Daniel Jones is reportedly looking for around $35-$37 million a year which would make him a top 10 highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.

The New York Giants finished 9-7-1 and even won a playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Here’s what Jones did against the Vikings in the Giants’s 31-24 victory:

  • 301 passing yards
  • 78 rushing yards
  • 2 touchdowns
  • 0 interceptions
  • 24-for-35 (68%)
  • 114.1 passer rating

He outplayed Kirk Cousins which for most great QBs, isn’t something worth taking note of but coming into the season, the NFL world could not have believed that was possible. Jones was a turnover-prone mediocre bust prior to this year.

So if Kirk Cousins makes $35 million a year then why shouldn’t Daniel Jones? $35 million is the cheapest contract Jones can get. Jared Goff makes $33 million. Carson Wentz makes $32 million. Matt Ryan makes $30 million.

Daniel Jones is better than every one of those guys especially when you consider it was he and Saquon Barkley vs. everyone. The Giants surrounded Jones with nobodies. It felt like they dragged concession workers from MetLife Stadium to jog onto the field and catch some 10-yard slant routes.

Can you imagine what Jones is capable of if he actually had a professional football player to throw the ball to?

And for anyone thinking Jones doesn’t deserve that amount of money then please tell me who you replace him with.

Here are the top free agent quarterbacks available on the market:

  • Tom Brady
  • Baker Mayfield
  • Sam Darnold
  • Jimmy G
  • Teddy Bridgewater
  • Joe Flacco
  • Mason Rudolph

Do you see how dire it is out here? You pay your franchise quarterback whatever it takes to avoid having to court Andy Dalton.

Nothing the Giants do this offseason is bigger than bringing back their guy who is somehow some insane mix of Eli Manning and Michael Vick. Pay this man whatever he wants. Also, get him a star receiver. Like, yesterday.
