Give Daniel Jones The MVP Trophy Immediately

daniel jones

Daniel Jones was the butt of every joke heading into this season. A complete afterthought incapable of succeeding as an NFL starting quarterback due to previous turnover issues. He was reckless with the football fumbling left and right. He frequently threw into double coverage. He was fine.

But that was then and this is now. This is a different quarterback in 2021. Daniel Jones is tied with Kyler Murray for the longest active streak of games with a 90+ quarterback rating.

This past Sunday, Daniel Jones snatched the MVP trophy going 28-for-40 for 402 passing yards with 2 touchdowns and a 108.5 passer rating.

Look at this absolute STRIKE down the field to John Ross for the first score of the day:

Right into his receiver’s hands. Perfection. But it’s not just his arm that deserves recognition. Daniel Jones is the best running back in the NFL.

I will admit that my hate for Giants GM, Dave Gettleman, has occasionally led me to root against Jones simply because Gettleman reached to take him with the No. 6 pick in the draft when he easily could’ve scooped him up in round 2 and taken a far more talented player with that pick.

But it turns out, there isn’t a more talented player than Daniel Jones right now.

That stats are whatever but true success in this league is not determined through yards (looking directly at you, Julio Jones fans). No, real success is determined through wins and Jones marching the Giants down for a 75-yard drive in overtime to seal the victory over the New Orleans Saints was MVP worthy.

Sure, he threw his first interception but he didn’t let the wheels fall off. He didn’t start awkwardly fumbling or forcing balls into impossible windows. He trusted his receivers to make plays and embodied the Danny Dimes nickname dropping perfect passes left and right.

Pray for the NFL. Daniel Football just had the best game of his career and now that he knows what he’s capable, it’s a wrap for the other 31 teams. Daniel Jones is coming.

*whispers* and he’s already better than Eli Manning.
