This NBA offseason has been defined by these Pro-Am games where All-Stars play in local high school gyms against division II walk-ons and real estate agents. Over the weekend, LeBron James met OKC rookie, Chet Holmgren, in another random gym in Seattle and the results weren’t great for the rook.
Here’s the play where Chet Holmgren got hurt tonight. He was guarding @KingJames one-on-one. It’s hard to tell how he got hurt. He might have just stepped weirdly. @ChetHolmgren @thecrawsover #thunder pic.twitter.com/AzUBYUgnyV

- Apparently, Chet’s ankle is fine but this doesn’t bode well for his NBA future. He’s 7-foot-1 and weighs 190 pounds.
- For comparison’s sake, I am 6-foot and weigh 190 pounds but my job does not require me to defend Joel Embiid in the post or stop Ja Morant on the fast break.
- Unless Holmgren accidentally gets Bruce Banner’s blood in his system and becomes She-Chet, I don’t forsee a path for him to be a consistently productive NBA player. What’s way more likely is he suffers leg injuries and misses significant time only to return and either re-aggravate previous injuries or instantly suffer new ones.
- Chet’s body reminds me a lot of Kristaps Porzingis, who has spent more time wearing suits courtside than actually playing on the court.
Here is a list of all the injuries Kristaps Porzingis has had in his 5 year career:
2/12/22 Knee
1/29/22 Knee
12/20/21 Toe
12/2/21 Knee
11/29/21 Ankle
10/27/21 Back
4/29/21 Knee
4/22/21 Ankle
4/4/21 Wrist
3/27/21 Injury Recovery
3/11/21 Injury management
2/28/21 Back
2/22/21 Back
1/23/21 Injury Recovery
1/16/21 Ankle
1/14/21 Ankle
1/12/21 Knee
10/9/20 Knee
8/23/20 Knee
8/22/20 Heel
8/20/20 Heel
8/18/20 Knee
8/12/20 Heel
8/9/20 Knee
3/11/20 Knee
2/8/20 Knee
2/1/20 Knee
1/1/20 Knee
2/6/18 Torn ACL
2/6/18 Knee
1/23/18 Left knee irritation
12/14/17 Sore left knee
11/29/17 Sore ankle
11/25/17 Low back tightness
11/8/17 Sprained left ankle
- If Chet Holmgren can’t make it out of a pro-am game unscathed, what will happen when Giannis comes running full speed at him?
- OR he’ll play like, the most games in NBA history because I’m always wrong about everything. Shrug.
