Apparently Ja Morant Beat Up a Teenager and I’m Totally Okay With That

ja morant

The Memphis Grizzlies are one of the best teams in the NBA. They have a 23-13 record and battling nightly with New Orleans and Denver for first place in the Western Conference due in large part to Ja Morant carrying this team on his back.

Here’s what Ja is doing so far this season:

  • 27.2 points
  • 6.2 rebounds
  • 8 assists
  • 55% true shooting
  • 23.7 PER

He is right in the middle of MVP convos with Jayson Tatum, Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic. He has become a true superstar.

Andddd, he also beat the shit out of some kid in a pickup basketball game.

According to TMZ, Ja Morant is being sued for a July 26th incident at his own home. The 17-year-old victim alleges the two got into a verbal altercation that resulted in the kid throwing a basketball at Ja’s face.

Naturally, Ja being the cool, calm collected man we all know him to be, asked another guy who was there “Should I do it to him?” Before he punched the 17-year-old directly in the face knocking him to the ground.

Ja then kept hitting him while the kid was down until someone pulled him off. Not a great look but shrug.

The Memphis Grizzlies have rubbed people the wrong way these past couple of seasons. They’ve risen to greatness mainly through sheer force of will. They are one of the most physical teams in the league and spend entire games talking shit to their opponents nonstop.

So I want to get ahead of this story before the NBA media people who hate the Grizzlies and their overconfident on-court demeanor latch onto this story and use it as their opportunity to tear Ja Morant down, none of this matters.

Ja Morant invited this teenager into his home and the kid disrespected him by throwing a basketball at his face. We should all support the ‘fuck around and find out’ laws of nature. This kid escalated an incident with Ja and ended up looking up at the ceiling. Lesson learned.

As far as Ja goes, shrug. This shit happens. There are probably so many physical altercations involving NBA players that never make it to the ESPN news chyron. Let’s hope this doesn’t turn into a big thing full of old white people dogwhistling about how bad the NBA and their mostly black players are devils.

If I invite you to my home and you’re an asshole, I should be allowed to hit you. I’m sure Ja is okay with paying whatever fine the courts demand him to. Please do not make this into a thing. Please.
