Sooo, I don’t typically dip the pen in ink for the women’s french professional league but the players on Paris Saint-Germain are, uh, attempting to break each other’s legs with paid hitmen so I have no choice but to talk about this madness.
Okay here are the characters:
- 31-year old Kheira Hamraoui signed with PSG this July becoming the starting midfielder.
- 26-year old Aminata Diallo is the backup midfielder for PSG who gets playing time but mostly late game subs.
You can see where this is going…
According to local police, Hamraoui accepted a ride home from Diallo leaving a nice normal team dinner. When the car arrived at Kheira’s home, two masked men snatched her out of the passenger’s seat. They pulled out metal pipes and proceeded to beat her legs for a few minutes before they took off running.
Where was Diallo the whole time her teammate was getting Nancy Kerrigan’d? Oh, she was being ‘restrained’ by an attacker but suffered zero injuries and neither woman had anything stolen so these attackers just wanted to snap ONE professional soccer player’s legs and not the other.
Hm.
Before going any further, Kheira Hamraoui needed stitches and has rough bruising but no bones were broken and she’s going to be fine.
But can you guess who got the most recent start for PSG while Hamraoui was nursing her wounds? Yup, Aminata Diallo who miraculously went untouched during a WWF-style beatdown of the teammate she happened to drive home that night.
Let’s add another layer of context.
We all know how important international appearances are for these soccer players. Neither of these two are the first names that get called for Team France but Hamraoui got the call up last month for the first time in years. She couldn’t compete due to injury but do you know who was called up as her replacement? Yeaaaaa buddy, Diallo.
Clearly, Diallo is under the impression that her career will always have a cap on it as long as Hamraoui continues to be ahead of her on literally every depth chart. Most people would think to either try to outwork their rival or perhaps move to a different city and attempt to make a name for themselves on a different club.
OR, you can hire goons to put your competition in the Walls of Jericho until their logs pop off like barbie dolls.
It’s safe to say that this young lady’s soccer career is over. At least she…tried(?)
