Jimmy Garoppolo is a Scammer

jimmy garoppolo

Jimmy Garoppolo has this strange label of a ‘winner’ whenever his name is brought up in NFL conversations. That label has landed him several opportunities to be a starting quarterback in the league despite everyone all knowing he’s really not that great at his job.

He has a 40-17 career win-loss record as a starter. With no context, yea sure, he’s a winner. If you ignore that the San Francisco 49ers have consistently had the best roster every year and are led by one of the best coaches in the sport. A coach that specializes in making life easy for his QBs with wide receivers constantly running wide-open. Being a 49ers QB is like playing an arcade game. On easy mode.

But Jimmy G leveraged that ‘winner’ title into a 3-year $72 million contract from the Raiders. He has the 2nd highest base salary among all quarterbacks. The Las Vegas were so eager to sign this man that they didn’t even really care that he missed half of the 2022 season with a foot fracture.

Well, it turns out that Jimmy Garoppolo’s foot injury isn’t even healed yet from a secret surgery he had in March after he signed that big contract. The ultimate winner—who has only played a full 16/17 games once in his 9-year career—somehow tricked the Raiders into giving him the 2nd highest salary even with the team knowing he once again will not be playing a full season.

You have to put Jimmy Garoppolo in the Scammer’s Hall of Fame.

Here’s what head coach, Josh McDaniels, said about the Jimmy G plan:

“Nothing has happened that would surprise us based on the information we had. We don’t play a game for 100 days. Everything that’s happened since we signed Jimmy, we knew ahead of time. … Certainly had an awareness of all of it. Our preference is not to push it and rush anybody back at this point in time.”

The Las Vegas Raiders knew Garoppolo needed a slow rehab from a foot surgery and still rushed to sign him so you have to give Jimmy, or his agent, credit for the move they pulled in the offseason.

NFL teams are so desperate to find a quarterback that they will sign an injury-prone quarterback who is once again injured and isn’t even that good at throwing footballs.

So many jobs are on the line here. The Raiders finally moved on from Derek Carr, who led the franchise to the playoffs one time in his 9 seasons. They lost that game of course. Last season they acquired Davante Adams thinking he and Carr would be the next dynamic duo in the NFL. They finished 6-11 and elected to give Jimmy fucking G the 2nd highest salary.

Jimmy Garoppolo is going to be Scrooge McDucking into a pool full of cash while every coach and exec in the front office will be spending next offseason updating their LinkedIn pages and working on their interview skills.

Scammer’s Hall of Fame.
