Welcome to “Why Your Team Is Winning The Super Bowl: where we recap the previous season, before diving into your team’s coaching edge, the prestige of your QB room, the new weapons they purchased, the main character storyline that’ll flood the podcast-class and the wild card factor that’ll propel them to the Super Bowl.
Today, the 2026 New York Jets.
How did 2025 go?
With 7.5 win odds going into 2025, the Jacksonville Jaguars finished 13-4. First-time head coach Liam Coen did it for DUUUVAAAALLLLL. Big wins over the Broncos, Chargers and a provocative victory over the Chiefs on Monday Night Football, early in the season, back when we thought the Chiefs were good.
These ain’t ya uncs Blake Bortles Jags.
Jags returned to the postseason, losing at the crib to the Bills in the Wild Card round, Josh Allen leading a game-winning drive at the end of the 4th. That mutant freak did mutant freak stuff. Shrugs and kisses.
But Jacksonville proved capable of hanging with the AFC titans. Not the actual Titans. They stink.
Coaching edge
Coach of the Year nearly went to Liam Coen if not for the late-night exploits of the AFC-winning head coach in the village built on the bets Bill Simmons forced his teenage girlfriend’s teenage boyfriend to place for him from his LA MTV Cribs house, paid for by all the thefts, domestic abuses and suicide one could directly pinpoint origins at some college kid’s first time listening to Bill and his cousin yap.

Who knows how many votes Coen would’ve ended up with if he, too, were closing bars down with the voters, turning his cell phone face down as his wife calls, scared.
In Vrabel’s defense, I could see a multiverse Me NFL head coaching, pillow talking the whole ass gameplan to Kimberley A. Martin, singlehandedly turning homegirl to Ian Rappaport with the intel.
Coen led the 6th-highest-scoring offense, coming into 2026 healthier, understanding what worked last year during their late-season run. He’s in Trevor’s ear like Dabo preaching, maximizing the physical prototype for the position.
QB Prestige
5-star out of high school, National Championship winner, fresh off a 5th place MVP season, including an 8-game win streak to finish the season. 6th in completion percentage and yards, 5th in touchdowns—Trevor Lawrence knocked his head against the Top 5 QB floor.
He’s only 26-years-old, at least another decade of football in front of him—All-Pro the next trophy on the menu.
And available.
Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson started to look like the movie studio ran out of story ideas but gotta keep the franchise alive, loot the box office with IP slop so the execs get their plump bonuses. Joe Burrow’s body wash ‘pon the rocks, drowned. Caleb Williams will see an open receiver 7 yards in front of him and launch a rocket into the concession stands (but will perfectly bullet pass a 60-yard deep ball between the flailing arms of the defender, intentionally splitting the ball through their moving limbs, landing directly into his wide receiver’s gloves).
Top 5 QB spot open, well, taken. By Trevor Lawrence.
Game-changing addition: Chris Rodriguez
Cap space tight, first-round draft pick gone, Jaguars GM James Gladstone needed to make a dollar stretch, signing Washington Commanders change-of-pace back Chris Rodriguez Jr.
The 4th-year running back with recent memories of success, fresh off a career season—112 carries, 500 yards (4.5 YPC), 6 TDs, all career-highs. The 5-11, 224-pound cannonball tied Dolphins RB De’Von Achane for first in yards after contact per rush (3.0)—breaking 13 tackles, and finishing fumble-free for the second consecutive year.
Chris Rodriguez Jr. gets loose for the big gain!

Liam Coen has a real weapon to summon-spam.
Main character storyline: Trevor Lawrence MVP
At Clemson, Trevor Lawrence nationally discussed like an inevitable GOAT, a revolutionary—the league will be different when Trevor Lawrence is done than it was. His legacy eclipsing legends like Peyton Manning and John Elway, predetermined—an interloper from the future visiting every college football analyst, delighting them with tales of Trevor Lawrence’s NFL dominance. A generational prospect, they says.
Year 6, all the gears align, Trevor Lawrence finally achieves his MVP potential.
Those same Lawrence barkers remain mic’d up, daily, waiting for the opportunity to label themselves soothsayers. Shout out to all the upcoming oracles, patting themselves on the back for the hard work of other men. The stakes could not be lower for them.
They be necking coaches, yo.
X-factor: Travis Hunter
Returning from a season-ending knee injury, mostly focusing on the defensive side but still practicing with the offense, the Jaguars get a second shot at Coach Prime’s greatest gift to modern football, the two-way wide receiver/cornerback.
Heisman Trophy winner, Travis played 162 defensive snaps and 324 as a WR before tearing his right LCL in practice on Oct. 30. Opposing QB completed 9-of-18 attempts, with a 68.3 QB rating when throwing to receivers Hunter covered. Travis recorded 15 tackles and deflected three passes.
And that was just in a small sample size. Expected to play more defense, starting at corner, full-time—they may have a mini Deion Sanders in Jacksonville.
Why they might not win the Super Bowl
Trevor Lawrence has 8 touchdowns to 7 interceptions in the postseason, including a 4-interception game against the Los Angeles Chargers (the Jags won thanks to 4 TD passes to pair with the turnovers).
The playoffs are a beast only Patrick Mahomes seems capable of slaying, at least from the AFC side of things. Until a non-Chiefs AFC team wins the Super Bowl this decade, I don’t believe it’s possible.
The Jags are winning the Super Bowl. You heard it here at Deadseriousness.com.
