On Saturday afternoon, the Chicago White Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 7-1, to win their 4th straight game as the team sits 4 games above .500 for the first time since 2022.

The W coming after Chicago put their All-Star Japanese slugger, Munetaka Murakami, on the injured list. Munetaka is second in baseball with 20 homers but is expected to miss the next 4 to 6 weeks recovering from a hamstring injury.

Didn’t need Munetaka. Edgar Quero, Andrew Benintendi and Colston Montgomery all hit homers to secure the victory for the Sox.

Colson Montgomery GOAT shit

While the Japanese rookie manages his hamstring from home, shortstop Colson Montgomery continues his historic home run hitting.

Montgomery hit the 35th homer in his 128th career game, quickest in White Sox history to reach 35 home runs, breaking José Abreu’s record (35 home runs in 133 games in his 2014 rookie season).

Here’s what the 2nd-year shortstop is putting together so far in his 2026 campaign:

  • 57 games
  • .233 batting average
  • 14 homers (7th in AL)
  • 35 RBIs
  • 49 hits
  • .815 OPS
  • 129 OPS +

Montgomery also comes with a smooth glove. And his team’ll need it.

The Chicago White Sox are two games from first place. Colson needs to hold the line like Spider-Man keeping that train on the tracks while Murakami Rests, Ices, Compresses and Elevates.

Anthony Kay loves America

After spending the last two years of his life playing in Japan, Anthony Kay got his redemption shot in Chicago. He’s pitching like a man who is never leaving this country again.

Against Detroit, 1 run and 6 hits through 5 innings, finishing 4-0 with a 1.67 ERA in 32 1/3 innings for the month of May.

We’re Good, Tarik

All the national headlines fantasizing about the future clubhouse of Tigers ace, Tarik Skubal, as the trade deadline looms, but Detroit fans need not worry about Skubal; they have the Great Framber Valdez on the roster, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits in 6 2/3 innings, falling to 2-4 on the season.

I can only imagine the joy of Tigers fans to hear Tarik Skubal is definitely leaving the team followed by Framber Valdez loading the fucking bases in the first inning and giving up 2 quick runs.

White Sox catcher Edgar Quero had 6 career homers coming into this game.

Andddd now no. 7 on the board.

The White Sox and Tigers have swapped fortunes—Chicago on their way to returning to postseason play. Detroit, Homer Simpson-ing down a cliff, maybe some hypothetical prospects incoming, who may be good in a few years, perhaps.
