On Sunday evening, Miami Marlins outfielder, Lewis Brinson, was minding his own business at work when a spectator decided to shout the n-word at him so loud that it was picked up on the live game audio.

Fortunately, Lewis Brinson didn’t hear the ‘fan’ and was unaffected by the extremely lazy attempt to get in a player’s head. But the odd part of this video is how no one appeared to react at all. You’d think if someone shouted the n-word at the top of their lungs over and over again that at least one person would throw hands but nope, business as usual at the ol’ ballpark.
For years, players like Adam Jones and CC Sabathia have been telling us that spent their careers being called racial slurs by opposing teams’ fans and for some reason, their stories were always met with rebuttals as if it behooved them to lie when in actuality, all it does is encourages more fans to call them that shit.
This moment perfectly proves what black players have been saying for decades. Not only did someone yell the n-word freely and proudly but they were met with zero confrontation. No one batted an eye. Someone screamed ‘nigger’ and the person next to them just continued to fill out their little scorecard and rub $15 popcorn all over their face.
Major League Baseball has become an afterthought. There are two major sports: football and basketball. Baseball is never mentioned on ESPN or any sports networks anymore. They are an irrelevant brand that cannot figure out how to access new generations of fans.
Do you want to know a huge reason why they can’t grow their fan base? *whispers* all of the best young black athletes across the country don’t want to sleep in their car driving around minor league cities for minimum wage while obese men from Wichita call them niggers when they could learn how to catch a football or shoot a basketball and not only instantly become rich on their rookie contracts but instantly become respected by fans.
So I hope Lewis Brinson can learn how to dribble a basketball. The Miami Heat needs a 12th man to fill out their roster. Baseball is a caveman sport with caveman fans.
