It took me wayyy too long to write these NFL Power Rankings this week so I didn’t get a chance to react to the Jets firing Robert Saleh. But I had to stop what I was doing when reports leaked out on the reasons why Saleh may have been let go.
Robert Saleh should’ve been fired. He’s only won 20 of the 56 games he’s coached. The sample size is large enough to know that he simply is not it.
And although he’s had some of the worst quarterback play over the last few seasons, so has Mike Tomlin and he lives in the playoffs 1.
But it’s madness to fire your head coach 5 weeks into the season unless something egregious happened.
It’s not like the Jets were blown out on Sunday or anything. They lost 23-17. It was a one-possession game and Aaron Rodgers blew it with 3 interceptions—including a pick-six directly in the hands of a Vikings linebacker.

Something more personal must’ve happened.
In Sunday’s London game against the Minnesota Vikings, Robert Saleh wore a lesbian flag patch and with everything going on in the world right now, Jets team owner, Woody Johnson, had no choice but to make a move today.
Woody Johnson famously worked for the Trump Administration.
He can’t have this lesbian on his sidelines mocking him—especially with an election less than a month away.
These billionaires are sensitive and Saleh shouldn’t be making political statements on the bench while his star running back is surrounded by the defense before he even gets the handoff. Focus on your offensive line.
During his time as ambassador for the UK, Woody Johnson had some really strange comments. Like when he said Black History Month shouldn’t exist and black fathers never stayed with their families. He was also creepy with women and claimed he liked working with women more because they were cheaper.
So safe to say, Woody Johnson probably has some complicated feelings about the LGBTQIA+ community…
….Oh no.
Wait hold on.
I fucked this up.
Just two days after Coach Robert Saleh wore the Lebanese flag on his sleeve, he’s been fired as the Head Coach of the NY Jets. While his record hasn’t been stellar, Saleh inherited a struggling team and still had a year left on his contract. Is this just a coincidence? pic.twitter.com/rHN8aFwTzn

Apparently it was a Lebanese flag and not a lesbian one.
So yea, he was definitely fired for that.
Duh.
