The NFL is the last sport we have where men are allowed to be men. These players are our modern gladiators and sometimes practices get real and punches get thrown. That’s just the nature of the beast.
And sometimes, a player might get hurt in a brawl but there’s nothing you can do about that.
On Friday morning, the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Commanders joint practice included a fight between Mark Andrews and Danny Johnson that ended with Danny Johnson suffering a rotator cuff injury.

Man, there’s nothing better than this. An All-Pro tight end going all out and body-slamming a kick returner who is battling for an opportunity to get real playing time at corner this season. W
ho cares that Andrews’s position on the Ravens is solidified?
How dare this undrafted cornerback attempt to make an aggressive play in order to impress his coaches and maybe get a real payday next offseason to feed his family.
THAT’S FOOTBALL BAYBEEEEEE.
Survival of the fittest.
Sucks that this injury could very well end Danny Johnson’s career and all he did was tackle Mark Andrews and then go for the ball after he fumbled it but you can’t step onto the gridiron unless you’re ready for war.
They already took away two-a-day practices because of concussions and some players passing out. NFL training camp fights are the last thing keeping our society from going entirely woke.
The Dallas Cowboys are getting into fights on the daily. Here’s what Dak Prescott said about his team constantly hitting each other:
“For me, to see the passion. It’s a testament to what we’ve all put into this thing — what the offense has put in and the confidence that has grown, and the defense and who they believe that they are. It’s been 10 padded practices and a lot of time going against one other is what that is. It means you’re ready to play somebody else. You’re ready to unleash your passion.”
Exactly. I couldn’t agree more with Dak Prescott—who is always on the right side of history. Guys in helmets punching other guys in meaningless practices is how these players “unleash their passion”. You can’t prepare for a full football season by only practicing football. Nope, you have to swing on your coworkers.
NFL training camp fights are about passion and competing and controlling the line of scrimmage and fill-in-the-blank football cliche.
