The Sixers Don’t Need Joel Embiid To Play Back-To-Backs

Weeks before the 2024-24 NBA Season, Joel Embiid told ESPN that he will never play in back-to-backs again. Sixers fans need not worry.

The Philadelphia 76ers are STACKED this season. They crushed the offseason bringing in superstar, Paul George to replace Tobias Harris, a guy who would prefer to stand in the corner and watch the game instead of participating in it.

So no one should bat an eye that Joel Embiid told ESPN he won’t ever play in a back-to-back again for the remainder of his career.

On the surface, I reckon it’s alarming to hear the franchise cornerstone is only 30 years old and physically incapable of playing basketball two nights in a row. Safe to say with the new 65-game threshold to qualify for end-of-season awards, Embiid is done accumulating accolades.

But if it means he’s healthy for the postseason then it makes sense.

And as I mentioned earlier, the Sixers have plenty of weapons to use while Embiid is icing his big ass knees.

34-year old Paul George is the perfect player for this team. A guy who has openly admitted to letting outside stuff affect his on-court performance will do so well in a city that broke Markelle Fultz and turned Ben Simmons into an influencer. Paul George will thrive in Philadelphia’s supportive environment.

Paul George, who is always yapping, has also said the Clippers failed last season after trading their role players away for James Harden.

He claimed he didn’t want to do the ‘dirty work’ but I’m sure the guy in his 14th season and a long injury history will suddenly decide to start diving for loose balls.

Oh, and I cannot forget to mention their new backup center, Andre Drummond, who said he joined the Sixers because Embiid recruited him directly. If Embiid can’t play back-to-backs, no worries. Andre Drummond can handle the scoring load.

Eric Gordon and Caleb Martin have the rest of the workload. And don’t even get me started on FIBA legend, Guerschon Yabusele, who was the final piece of this unstoppable Sixers Super Team.

It’s truly depressing for the other 29 NBA teams and honestly, Joel Embiid sitting out back-to-backs is the only thing that makes this season fair.

Some people think this team is average as hell without Embiid controlling everything from the paint but, again, the 76ers have Reggie Jackson now. They’ll be close to 70 wins, I’m sure.
