Teddy Bridgewater Became My Favorite Quarterback

teddy bridgewater

Teddy Bridgewater is mid. His career-high 15 touchdowns in 2020 came along with 11 interceptions. He is incredibly boring to watch. He moves in slow motion. Provides zero mobility out of the pocket. Has the arm strength of a snake. And exists exclusively to hand the ball off and get out of the way.

But in Sunday’s L to the Philadelphia Eagles, Bridgewater made a play—or I suppose, didn’t make a play—that instantly transformed this mediocre afterthought into my new favorite QB.

At the end of the 3rd quarter of a one-score game, Bridgewater handed off to Melvin Gordon—the Bridgewater specialty—which resulted in a fumble and an 82-yard touchdown return by Darius Slay.

But let’s zoom in on the moment that turn Teddy into a legend:

Look at this king get a direct angle on what could’ve been a huge tackle to stop Slay only to stop short and pretend like he put an effort in but ultimately he allowed Slay to sprint right past him untouched.

We truly expect these players to break their necks for the fans or the ‘team’ or whatever but at some point, you look at the jersey you’re wearing, the players on the sideline, the drunk fans in the crowd and you just say to yourself “the check is clearing regardless. I’m good”.

The more likely outcome of that play if Teddy Bridgewater attempted to tackle is that he awkwardly dives at Slay, jams his neck, embarrasses himself and while everyone laughs at him, he’s on the floor twitching from nerve damage.

I’d rather let him jog into the endzone and try again after the Eagles kick it back off to us. I’m not crawling into a wheelchair every morning for the city of Denver. I’ve got dinner plans tonight. Fuck that.

I truly respect cowardice.

Also,

Lol at Clay Travis of all people going out of his way to record Teddy Bridgewater missing this tackle. It’s almost as if he knows his fans are salivating at the chance to call a black guy lazy. I cannot wait to sell out one day and trade all this shit for easy Fox News checks. Literally the easiest money in the world. Like taking candy from a racist low IQ baby.
