Richie James Singlehandedly Destroyed the New York Giants Season

The New York Giants were on a miraculous 4-game winning streak. They beat back-to-back MVPs (Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson). They beat up Chicago and Jacksonville. They were the second-best team in the NFC. Until Richie James decided he was done with all that winning.

Richie James coughed up TWO fumbles on punt returns, the second of which came with the Giants down a touchdown with 6 minutes left in the game and a little momentum on their side after forcing a 3 and out for Seattle.

Before I continue shitting on Richie, it’s essential to at least point out how stagnant the Giants offense was. They refused to call any running plays for Saquon Barkley in the first half and he finished with only 53 yards on 2.7 yards per carry. Daniel Jones threw 31 passes. It was as if the game plan was to make Jones the focal point and hero of the game and uh, that can’t happen because he’s throwing to bums like Richie James.

New York lost their starting tight end because he eye almost fell out a couple weeks ago. Kenny Golladay stole $72 million and has 2 catches this season. Sterling Shepard tore his ACL. They just traded Kadarius Toney to the Chiefs.

This team went into Seattle with no players capable of catching footballs and the game plan was ‘lets throw it’. Absolutely absurd.

But with all those playmakers absent, it was time for 27-year-old Richie James to really make a name for himself in this league.

He fumbled twice and was carted off the field.

Everyone and their mothers wants and expects James to be cut from the roster and in any other season, I might grab my pitchfork and join the angry mob but like I just illustrated, there are no skill players on this roster and the front office seems content on not acquiring anyone new to replace all the missing bodies.

Reallyyyy makes you think that they don’t see a potential Super Bowl with this roster and they’re totally okay with pulling concession workers and water boys to go play receiver.

Odell Beckham goes on Twitter every day, begging for a job, and the Giants are like ‘nope, we’ve got Richie James’.

I have a reaaaal hard time getting truly angry at Richie James when this kid shouldn’t even be tasked with playing this much. None of the top teams in this league would ever let James play as frequently as he does on the Giants because all of the top teams would go out and find far more talented players to replace him by now.

Perhaps this bye week is the team’s chance to load up before the trade deadline. But if zero moves are made then all Giants fans should get the very clear message: the Giants aren’t trying to win this season.

So instead of everyone being pissed at Richie James, redirect that anger at the front office for not getting players that are better than Richie James.
