Let’s Talk About Everyone’s Weird Ass Reactions to the Death of Dwayne Haskins

dwayne haskins

Last week, Pittsburgh Steelers QB, Dwayne Haskins, passed away after being struck by a dump truck trying to cross the highway. Shit sucks. As much as I mocked his attempt to play for Washington, there was still a massive chance the 24-year old could turn things around. Far too early in that young man’s career to believe he had nothing to offer the NFL.

But for some reason, people could not help but continue to dunk on a man who JUST died solely because he didn’t play as well as he was expected to in the NFL.

Here’s Adam Schefter’s initial tweet when reporting the news of Haskins’s tragic death:

adam schefter

Absolutely no reason to include Haskins’s struggles playing quarterback when literally being the first to report his death. That context adds nothing to this announcement.

And let me make something clear so as to not appear to be a hypocrite or whatever: you can for sure make fun of bad people when they die and immediately bring up all the fucked up things they did. When Rush Limbaugh died, you were almost required to laugh at the death of a man who was so instrumental in cultivating the toxic political discourse and ‘culture wars’ we have to deal with today.

But Dwayne Haskins wasn’t a bad guy. He never hurt another human. Man was just trying to find his footing in the NFL and was leaving a Steelers workout when the accident occurred. Like, he was actively trying to improve. Why would his completion percentage be the first line of his obituary?

Really hope when Schefter passes someone reports it by saying ‘Ultimate cuck, Adam Schefter, who wrote an entire book praising his wife’s husband who she for sure still to this day loves more than Schefter, has died’.

Here’s some audio from NFL Hall of Famer, Gil Brandt, just shitting on Haskins out of nowhere:

INSANE. Was Haskins in their wives’ DMs or something?

Gil Brandt heard Dwayne passed and said he was ‘living to be dead’ based on….his inability to succeed in the NFL? His lack of maturity in his early 20’s? Again, Haskins didn’t commit any crimes. He didn’t die in some gang shoot-out or shooting up heroin. No shooting involved whatsoever. He was hit by a truck. At age 24. With an entire future ahead of him. Why are we immediately talking about his ‘work ethic’?

And the worst reaction I continued to see in the comments under all Haskins-related was this strange victim-blaming nonsense. So many people wanted to question why he was walking on the highway and insinuating a low IQ because of this.

Who are all these perfect humans who never do anything wrong and who constantly avoid any and all potential danger thus allowing them to speak down upon people who get struck by vehicles? No one pissed at the truck driver for hitting a human being but all the smoke for the deceased. Fucking weirdos.

In 2018, Dwayne Haskins threw 50 touchdowns. FIFTY. Had a record-breaking year at Ohio State. We should probably talk about his massive accomplishments right now. Nothing else matters.
