Kim Mulkey 1000% Did Whatever The Washington Post is Accusing Her of Doing

There is a new Kim Mulkey Washington Post hit piece hitting the streets soon and we know this because Kim Mulkey won’t shut up about it.

kim mulkey washington post

Kim Mulkey is one of the greatest basketball coaches of all time. With a 720-117 win-loss record and 4 national championships, including winning it all last season, Mulkey has established herself as one of the GOATs.

Most people know Kim Mulkey from her loud ass outfits—as she can typically be found on the sidelines dressed like she gets all of her clothes from a local Las Vegas strip church donation basket or at a yard sale of a retired drag queen.

Kim Mulkey’s LSU Tigers are coming into the 2024 women’s NCAA March Madness tournament as the defending champions. On Friday, they won a sloppy round one game, 70-60, over Rice. LSU overcame turning the ball over 24 times thanks mainly to Rice chucking up bricks all game long and just having no business being on the floor with the defending champs.

After the win, Coach Mulkey had something important to get off her gravity-altered chest as she went off on the Washington Post, unprovoked, for about 4 minutes straight.

Very normal post-game press conference where the head coach of the defending champions, after the first round of this year’s championship tournament, immediately needed to address a Washington Post story coming out.

Very normal and regular.

Apparently, a reporter has been trying to contact Kim Mulkey for 2 years to sit down for an interview and contacted LSU with a bunch of questions on Tuesday to be answered by Thursday which Kim believes is a ridiculous timetable—even though she has had 2 whole years to talk to this reporter.

She then says it was an attempt to distract LSU from the March Madness tournament but after she cut this WWF-style promo, all of her girls were hounded with questions about this phantom story so Kim is actively creating the distraction she is claiming the reporter was attempting.

None of us know what’s sitting in the Washington Post drafts. Mulkey made this story astronomically larger than it would’ve been.

Mulkey explains her reasons for not wanting to cooperate with the reporter.

She claims she was pissed at him two years ago for writing a ‘hit job’ on Brian Kelly. I wouldn’t describe that Brian Kelly story as a ‘hit job’ as much as it was about local poverty and the racial dynamics of a financially struggling community welcoming in a head coach who just signed a $100 million contract.

The piece had almost nothing to do with Kelly as a coach or a man and everything to do with how absurd coaching salaries are, especially compared to the poverty surrounding these universities.

One of two things happened here. Either A.) she did not read a single word of the story and was told about it by an unreliable narrator who described it to Mulkey as some sort of ‘anti-LSU’ story

or B.) Kim Mulkey read a story she interpreted as attacking one of her peers and his salary and everything I see about Kim makes me believe she is totallyyyyy okay with Brian Kelly making $100 million while 1 in 5 residents live below the poverty line because people like Kim believe Brian earned it through hard work and the poor people are poor by choice.

Kim then explains that at some point in his reporting, the writer reached out to her former coaches and lied about being with her in order to trick them into commenting. We can have a conversation about the ethics of reporting and attempting to get quotes but personally, I would end that argument by simply reminding Kim that she was given TWO YEARS to share her side of the story and participate in the narrative that she is now claiming is blindsiding her.

There is something she says next that stood out to me.

She says “Reporters who give a megaphone to a one-sided embellished version of things aren’t trying to tell the truth”. So whatever this Washington Post story is about, it 1000% happened. Kim Mulkey didn’t say it was wrong. She claimed it was ’embellished’ or exaggerated to get clicks or sell newspapers.

She did that shit.

Oh, then she takes it to the Donald Trump fake news bullshit by saying no one trusts the media anymore. People are tired of journalists and their ‘sleezy tactics and hatchet jobs’ blah blah.

But she wraps this up by saying she’s hired the best defamation law firm in the country and will sue the Washington Post if they publish a false story about her which instantly puts her in a strange box of having to sue regardless because if she doesn’t, she’s essentially admitting the story is true.

What is in this Washington Post story?

It feels like this report won’t totally be basketball-related. I imagine if it were, then the story would be broken by ESPN or The Athletic or something.

The last time this Washington Post writer crafted an LSU-related story, it detailed the socioeconomic conditions of the community Brian Kelly was joining. It wasn’t about recruiting violations or some sort of cheating scandal where he broke NCAA rules.

I don’t think this Kim Mulkey story will have anything to do with the law or anything that could have any legal consequences, although it sounds like Kim is prepared to make this a legal issue with her defamation lawyers ready to steal her money.

If I had to guess, I think the story is about how the coach of a sport littered with LGBTQ players seems to be a homophobe. Kim Mulkey claims this reporter contacted her on a story two years ago and I don’t think it’s a coincidence Britney Griner was arrested in Russia for bringing a weed pen through airport security.

Britney Griner is super gay. Like, arguably one of the gayest women of all time. In 2014, Griner published a book detailing her time at Baylor, playing for Coach Mulkey, including a story where Mulkey told Griner to hide her sexuality because Baylor was a religious school and it could affect recruiting or some shit.

Would it shock you if the Washington Post dropped a story about Kim Mulkey making a bunch of former gay players feel uncomfortable? Britney Griner was a war prisoner over a fucking weed pen and Kim Mulkey wouldn’t even comment on it. This woman is supposed to help turn these young teenage girls into professional, adult women and she didn’t even care about one of the best players she ever had being held captive because she didn’t like that Griner wrote about her or whatever.

I’m going to read the hell out of this Kim Mulkey Washington Post story. I imagine former players are lining up to talk shit about this petty sociopath.

Whatever the Washington Post reports, we aren’t going to learn anything new about Kim Mulkey. We all know who this woman is. Eventually, she’ll stop recruiting the best talent because she’ll get too old and tired to travel to these young ladies’ homes and her teams will struggle and she will be fired. Then she can run for local mayor or some shit and have an entire campaign against cancel culture or anti-vax or whatever reactionary nonsense she can use to trick the community into riding for her. Shrug.gif.
