By all accounts, it appears as though Jason Kidd will be the next head coach of the Dallas Mavericks following the departure of Rick Carlisle.
With zero context, this is a beautiful homecoming off one of the best point guards in NBA history to the organization where he was drafted to start his career and ended his career with a championship.

He will be tasked with helping Luka Doncic reach a new level of play that the previous coaching staff could not. There is a very lazy belief that due to Kidd’s success at the position that he will obviously turn Doncic into that great of a player.
Except that Luka is already better than Kidd ever was and being a great player means absolutely nothing when it comes to coaching. Oh, and Luka is a dick who is responsible for the entire Mavericks front office and coaching staff to be shaken up this offseason.
Luka will now have to battle Jason Kidd, one of the biggest assholes in NBA history who somehow continues to fail and get more coaching opportunities despite his awful behavior and overall lack of success.
He has a 183-190 win-loss record as a coach despite coaching Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce in Brooklyn and Giannis in Milwaukee.
There is no reason he should get a third coaching opportunity to now waste a year or two of Luka’s prime.
Especially when you consider that in 2001 he beat his wife and in 2012 he drove drunk into a utility pole. I don’t even want to get through all the times he was a straight up dick during his career feuding with Jim Jackson, getting Byron Scott fired or dropping Jannero Pargo on his head while he was mid-air going for a layup.
But at the end of the day, no NBA organization deserves to have their superstar and their head coach strangle each other live on TV more than the Mavs.
Mark Cuban ran on front office where guys were just sexually harassing women left and right and walked away from that unscathed.
This franchise should be burned to the ground and Jason Kidd is literally one Tito’s and club away from doing that this weekend as a celebration for getting hired.
