Yankees fresh off a 9-2 beatdown of the Texas Rangers, giddy about rookie slugger Spencer Jones making his Major League debut on Friday night in Milwaukee.

But the Yankees lost Friday night, 6-0 shutout by the Milwaukee Brewers.

How did Spencer Jones play?

Spencer Jones’s minor league Baseball Reference page looks almost identical to Aaron Judge’s when he was called up at the same age (24 years old), another 6-foot-7 power forward addicted to smashing baseballs into parking lots.

His ascent to the big leagues stifled by a logjam in the outfield.

Cody Bellinger and Trent Grisham both re-signed before the season.

Aaron Judge is Aaron Judge.

Giancarlo Stanton stapled to the DH.

But with Giancarlo Stanton on the IL,calf injury already—his roster replacement, Jasson Dominguez, the first outfielder called up, smashed his face into a wall in that aforementioned 9-2 Rangers beatdown—leaving an opportunity for Spencer Jones to start his Major League career.

And that big league debut completely obliterated by a sicko.

Spencer Jones finished the game hitless, striking out twice and drawing a walk on Jacob Misiorowski, his first career trip to first base.

But Jones, and the rest of the Yankees, didn’t stand a chance against The Miz.

Jacob Misiorowski Lullabies

Jacob Misiorowski, the 24-year old pitching phenom, leading the league in strike outs in his second career season, 100mph fastball over and over and over, Tommy John surgeons refreshing Zillow for new Hamptons summer home listings after every K. He had three pitches of 103.6 mph, the highest velocity any starter has reached since Statcast tracking began in 2008.

Here’s what The Miz did against the Yankees in the Rangers 6-0 victory Friday night:

  • 6 innings pitched
  • 11 Ks
  • 0 earned runs
  • 2 BBs
  • 2 hits

Light day against the best team in the American League.

Last season, his rookie campaign, Misiorowski beat both Paul Skenes and Clayton Kershaw in head-to-head matchups.

In 3 postseason appearances, Miz recorded a 1.52 ERA, including a 9 strikeout game against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the NLCS, had Shohei looking silly with a big strikeout in the bottom of the 5th.

An impeccable audition for his future employers.

We know how this story goes. Misiorowski wouldn’t be the first Brewers ace the Yankees poached in free agency. The CC Sabathia jersey still hangs in the garage.

The Brewers can enjoy their final remaining years with him, Jacob Misiorowski just sent his CV to the Bronx Bombers last night and he’ll be on the payroll by the time the White House starts printing out Trump 2032 hats.
